SE03 : EP07 - Shards of Estulla pt. 2
General Summary
Searching the grounds, Kellasin Leafstrider finds a pair of weapons. As they go about there own business Ryder approaches the cat. Hone ducks under the ship and looks for a way in. Orwyn heals himself. Daphix and Mirai join Ryder, the panther begins to speak Celestrial. Orwyn perks up and being to converse with this panther-like being.
They discuss the situation. This is one of the missing celestials, Urus. At it tells Orwyn of his missing partner Jatal and the tribulations up to now.
Hone finds the hull of the ship whole, while marred and scared it's is fully intact. Urus explains it can only be opened by Jatal. Last time he knew his whereabouts three years ago in the city of Teradal. And ever since then, the locals have become more covetous and hostile.
As they clear the site, Urus informs them he must keep vigil, protecting the ship. The party discusses going to seek out Jatal in the city. Orwyn inquires about the culture to build a working cover story for their approach to the local populous. Once he collects enough info, Orwyn relays his conversation to the party. They take a breather before heading out.
It's a day and a half journey. As they travel Daphix alters his form to appear human. As they get, closer wilderness opens to farms and cleared land. They eventually find a road to follow in.
They stop for the night at a small inn. Local farmers talk amongst themselves about a recently closed mine. Kellasin walls over and asks I heard them discussing breaking into this mine. He warns them against this. As half of them become intimidated, the bow equipped man's expression hardens. Ryder appears behind them to reinforce this advice. Afterward, the party then takes a table to sup.
The charlatan turns up at there table to bend their ear to his cause. He defends the work above board. Telling of the communications with the king. They find the current king only ten years into his reign may be part of the reason for the hostilities basically started a war with the forest folk. They question the three groups he sent in already and that they had never been heard from again. This half-elf man Yenik is dismissed by the party. And returns to convince the local boys to take up his mission.
The party discusses all the new information. After batting around investigating the mine, it's mostly tabled. They decide to head out of the city in the morning.
Just before they turn on, Ryder collects a sample of the bowman's hair so Orwyn can scrye on the boys when the need arises.
In the morning, they take breakfast before hitting the road. Eventually arriving at a fortified city, Teradal. The door guard accepts the party's story of being survivors of a besieged caravan coming to town to seek a friend. They keep a low profile as they take in the lay of the city.
It set with it's back to a mountain. High walls ring out for the slopes. A raised keep rises out in the deepest part of town. It's modern and well made. Humans, with a small contingent of dwarves, elves, half-elves populate the city.
Orwyn and Kellasin begin to scrye the settlement. Marai heads into dwarves community to ask around for one.of Jatal's identities. Daphyx takes charge of Home and heads in the city to take in it's a culture finding a magic show. Ryder search for a place to find a meeting spot and discovers a yam stand.
Taking the exquisite delicacies of the yam stand Ryder, Daphyx, and Hone are soon joined by Orwyn and Kellasin. They take in a yam pie as they exchange information. As the city shift to the night, many of the elven maidens seem to sullenly head to red-lit buildings. Mirai heads off to one of these and hires two girls to talk with them.
Later they meet back at the yam stand. Ryder had headed out discrete inn but can't. Dyphix and Hone tried to take in a night club but end up getting ejected, Orwyn and Kellasin scrye towards the political district. The cleric detects a celestial presence the keep. After taking in at all in they turn in for the night.
Orwyn checks in with boys that headed for the mine. They are dazed by a celestial rune that dives them to speaking in tongues.
