Orwyn Ilvarien
A Horizian elf cleric of the Travelers. A Newcomer originally from Xorath. Also one of the Prime Meridians and thus a founder of the Meridians.
Recent developments: Orwyn Ilvarien in a cleric, which automatically is a position of some mid-level authority in the Church hierarchy. His role had generally been one of exploring, going out on Iris missions and bringing back more knowledge for the Church, while also trying to guide other adventurers to remember the Path. After First Zenith and the start of the Meridians, Orwyn suddenly found himself with a lot more influence in the city, which the Church was eager to capitalize on. They started having him do more sermons, essentially as a celebrity preacher to get people excited. He found this much more boring than traveling to other worlds, but if it’s what the Church wanted… The Orwynists changed things. After Orwyn found himself transported to Ravenloft without going through the Iris or the Oculus, word got around (as it always seems to). This was something that was done to Orwyn, against his will even, and was very troubling as planar magic doesn’t work in Horizon. However, what the Orwynists took from this, “Here’s a guy who found another Iris, AND he stepped between worlds without even using one! Clearly, everything the Church has told us has been a lie, as this guy is basically the second coming of the Travelers.” Needless to say… Orwyn does not agree with this interpretation! Nor does the Church. The Orwynists were still small in number, but their presence began to be disruptive in Orwyn’s sermons, so the Church decided to stop doing those before these heretical ideas spread further. So far, it seems to have worked - we’ve heard less and less from this sect now that Orwyn is less in the public eye. He’s low-key pleased with this change for personal reasons also, since he always preferred traveling to public speaking anyway. However, “going quiet” can also mean “going underground,” so the fact that we don’t hear from the Orwynists also means we don’t know how widespread their ideas might actually be. And if some of the wild accusations of Sarah Bloodmare became known within the city, there is great danger that could feed into their conspiratorial mindset… Thankfully, this hasn’t happened. Yet.
