Introduction

This world setting is considered system agnostic, meaning it doesn't strictly adhere to one tabletop RPG system. You and your Game Master are encouraged to choose the RPG system that best fits your game, with System Suggestions available in the GM's Tools article. Meanwhile, as a general approach to the role of each character, in Honarth, we have three general class categories: Brawn, Utility, and Expert.

Brawn

Brawn characters are all about muscle and tactical/combat training. They are the front-line fighters, ready to take on any challenge that comes their way. Whether it's a physical brawl or a strategic battle, these characters have what it takes to succeed.

Utility

Utility characters are the jack-of-all-trades. Infiltrators, agents, spies, scouts, and thieves are just a few examples of the many roles a Utility character can take on. These characters are versatile and able to adapt to any situation, making them valuable assets in any team.

Expert

Expert characters are the brains behind the operation. They are the scholars, politicians, engineers, and scientists that keep the world of Honarth running. Whether it's through their knowledge, leadership, or technical expertise, Expert characters play a crucial role in any mission.

Tips & Tricks

When creating your character, think about what you want to achieve in the world of Honarth. What kind of story do you want to tell? Here are a few things that might help you pick the right class and abilities:
  • Consider the role you want to play in the party and choose a class that complements your play style.
  • Consider the party composition and choose a class that fills a gap in the party's abilities.
  • Don't be afraid to ask your Game Master for suggestions or advice on class selection.
  • Mix and match class abilities to create a unique character that stands out.
  • Think about how your class choice impacts your character's backstory and personality.
For Game Masters As a Game Master, your role is to help guide players in their character creation process. Encourage players to think about what they want their character to do and how they want to be perceived by the world. Offer suggestions, but ultimately allow players to make their own choices. Here are a few ways you can assist your players:
  • Encourage players to think about the role they want to play in the party and choose a class that fits their play style.
  • Offer suggestions and advice on class selection to players who are having trouble deciding.
  • Be open to players who want to mix and match class abilities to create unique characters.
  • Help players think about how their class choice impacts their character's backstory and personality.
  • Provide guidance to players who want to create their own class ideas and discuss them with the party.
