Nualia Tobyn

Nualia, Father Tobyn's adopted daughter, died in the fires of the The Late Unpleasantness
Rabie is wondering who or what would gain anything by stealing the priest's corpse. To his knowledge Father Tobyn and his adopted daughter were loved by the entirety of the village. He can't think of anyone who might want to tarnish the priest's rest or memory. He shares as much and with a focused nod Jinx admits he was thinking the same.

Questions in broken stitchings: I
Under the guidance of the kineticist , the group follows the tracks across the cemetery. "Do you know where Tobyn's daughter was buried?" Jinx asks the sheriff. He heard that the half-celestial perished but did not see a grave for her anywhere.
"Adopted daughter." Belor is quick to correct the Gnome. "That is hard to say. The flames of the cathedral fire were an inferno and many of the bodies retrieved were burned beyond recognition. We wanted to bury them separately but we couldn't."
This intrigues the Gnome. "Does that mean that, theoretically, of course, we cannot prove that she is dead?"
The question sounds absurd to Belor who pauses his stride. "Nobody could have survived that fire."
Jinx can't help but pry deeper. "And we are sure she was there, that night?"
Reluctantly the sheriff lets his mind wander through the events of those nights, five years ago. "The priests who managed to escape the fire came back to look for Nualia among the ashes because she was there that night."
Before Belor has to peel more scabs from his hurtful memories Rabie adds. "In the months before the fire she had become a bit of a recluse, barely leaving the cathedral."
"She was an aasimar, a half-celestial, people adored her for her supposed ability to bring fortune and health just by touching her. Did she only use her abilities inside of the cathedral?" Jinx continues. This revelation causes an audible gasp from Pious who listens attentively.
Belor answers. "I believe that most stories surrounding her abilities were exaggerations and superstitions. She eventually became a more devout priest and as such became a bit more reclusive. Sometimes I would see her around town but mostly at the cathedral. In most respects, she was just a young girl. I think she even had a boyfriend at one point."
Of course, the inquisitive Gnome needs to know more.
"A Varisian, wanderer- I believe." The sheriff struggles to remember the details. "Delek, his name was. I only remember because I had to take him in for being involved in a bar brawl at one point. He seemed just a young lad. And Nualia was just a young girl for that matter, besides her ancestry. "
By that time the tracks have led Vannrik to the high stone wall protecting Sandpoint from the North. Belor shakes his head at Jinx. "We did not find her, trust me, we looked. We did find so many bodies that we can only assume that one must have been hers."
The Gnome's three eyes are narrowed in thought, betraying that he is unconvinced that the matter is settled.
The sheriff lets out a beleaguered sigh. "It is possible, I suppose. As you said, Theoretically, anything is." He lets out a curse in the tongue of the Shoanti. "I hoped this was all Goblins and their mischief. I will talk with Father Zantus about what happened here."
