Catalyst
Catalysts or Augour Focuses are the tools wielded
by Wizards to cast spells. Catalyst types range from wands, staves, thimbles, or artifacts with inherent magical energy.Virges
are long typically wooden tools that are used as a secondary Augour Focus incase a Staff is lost. They usually sit on the Wizards person in a holster or sheath, founds in easily reachable place.Virges, like most other Catalysts, are decorated with baubles to catch Magical Energy in the air around them to make their spells stronger. Some common decorations are half moon charms, Wyrm scales, A piece of bark from the same tree the Virge came from, and feathers.
Staves
are tall, strong wooden or metal rods, used secondarly as a walking stick to conceal the purpose of the item and the true identity of a Wizard. Usually they are held with the Wizard at all times, rarely ever leaving them behind. Staves are usually very decorated and ornately carved, but can still be simple sticks. Its the baubles and inherent magic holding abilities of wood that truly catches the magic.Thimbles
are ornate metal rings, bracelets, chains, and other hand jewelry that can cover just the finger tips or the entirety of the forearm up the elbow. They are used by more experienced casters, who are so in touch with The Soul Stream that they barely need Focuses anymore. They are typically made of brass, copper, silver, or gold.
