Uchu Roadkeeper
Uchu Roadkeeper, the Lance of Rolkirk, was a paladin of Emesh and Spring Knight who presided over the garrison at Rolkirk.
Uchu was from the Kingdom of Hain and hailed from a lesser noble house. They identified primarily as a Spring Knight and paladin. It seems that they were low rank or otherwise undesirable for some reason, to be stationed in The Deverkel Wastes as a protector of villages around Lake Gutrahd. That isn't dishonorable or shameful work, but it lacks the grand questing and adventure most Spring Knights engage in to bolster their legend. It is possible that they were simply a squire.
While to the Hainish knights Uchu was a marginal footnote of a significant order, possibly even a squire, to the villagers around Lake Gutrahd they were a valiant hero and capable knight who represented the strength and sophistication of Hain. They were quite fond of this reputation and often told grandiose stories at local village feasts. Uchu enjoyed the finer things in life and would feast and drink with the people as often as they could.
Towards the end, Uchu was a philanderer, a drunk, and a gloryhound. That is all true. But even at their worst, Uchu was a capable warrior who was deeply devoted to the people of the oft-forgotten Lake Gutrahd. They died fighting a terrible spirit that had beset the lakeside villages. While the spirit was never defeated, Uchu succeeded in luring it away so that it would pursue a group of brigands deeper into the wastes, saving the villagers in the end. They died a hero even if they had started to lose the life of one over the years.
Uchu had many courtships and a number of bastards, including Aslo Devadov.
