Metamind

When a Lunar God seeks to work magic beyond what their feeble once-mortal minds can sustain, they turn to their Metaminds to get the job done. Where a naturalborn mind may be unable to hold countless memories and perform many simultaneous Divine Observations or answer many Divine Contacts at once, a Metamind can expand that capability.    Metaminds are a critical tool for allowing The Lunar Pantheon to keep up with the growing strain and demands of larger and larger populations with more complex political and economic systems. Every century means more paladins, more contacts, and more Observations than before; certainly, the situation as of 2000 Modern Era is vastly different than the Bronze age. Without these tools, Lunar Gods would risk becoming niche figures in their own religions - and even Gods who condemn the existence of Metaminds have been forced to use them to keep up in the Great Game.    Metaminds do certainly have an objectionable side: they were people once. The ancient souls of the dead in Paradise sometimes fade with time, becoming malleable and unstable. Left to their own devices, these souls fall into perpetual sleep and bury themselves in the Plane, vanishing from sight. But a deeply pious soul devoted to a Lunar God might retain that connection as they fade, opening themselves to manipulation. Instead of fading, these souls become puddy in the hands of the Gods. Their minds are shaped into spiritual computers and lumped together, forming the core of the Metamind. This process was originally pioneered by Hiku the Muse, but is now used by every Lunar God.
