Thematic Resonance

A Limn tends to resemble the theme and spirit of its host universe, at its attachment point. Great works of art, spooky alleyways, creepy carnivals, and powerful artifacts all tend to promote high thematic resonance.

Common conjecture is that a Limn must establish thematic resonance, in order to be compatible with the host universe, and effectively draw upon its resources. As evidence, a Limn's ability to convince an observer that it is real appears to stabilize its reality.

Recent theory holds that thematic resonance is a requirement for Liminal Attachment. This is suggested by evidence that limns detach from their hosts when that resonance is severely disrupted. Whether the disruption forces the detachment, or whether the detachment is a defensive or prey-capturing mechanism, or both, is unknown.
