Era beginning/end

As the Maelstrom that brought life to Gyrraholm burned down, it surged against it's planetary bonds relentlessly. At the moment of it's collapse, the realm that it fueled experienced a calamity unlike any the world had seen before, resulting in the loss of countless lives, a landscape that would be forever changed, and even the death of a few Monumentals who tried to avert disaster.

For centuries Gyrraholm has endured the constant lashing of it's slowly dying core, with each surge causing magical tears on the planet's surface, leading to arcane plagues, storms and planar displacements. But This was unlike any previous event. The world shook, from the continent-spanning Imperial City of Teikokami, to the icy shores of Kaldrold, to the depths of Wildehart's woodlands. The seas churned and rose at alarming rates, threatening to swallow the shorefront villages of Kohoruna and strip away the cliffside temples of Valoreign. The winds whipped fiercely, threatening to turn the deserts of Alshams Al'ard into a single massive sandstorm while lightning tore the skies asunder.   Such was the extent of the destruction that many of the Monumentals themselves (the gods of Gyrraholm) manifested on the material plane in an effort to avert disaster, but to no avail. For 10 whole days the destruction raged, costing many mortal and Monumental lives, as well as changing the face of Gyrraholm itself forever, before finally relenting.   Who or what caused the Calamity to subside is unknown for certain, though most attribute the world's newfound stability to the efforts of the Monumentals who survived.
