Festagnatium
Imagine that there is a way to make any material as dureable as is possible. Its previous maximum elasticity is increased by at least twice as much. Any material is as strong as each individual component is as well. That is what Corthalia has done with steel. It is now far more versatile and durable and is highly desired by every country and organization in the world.
Properties
Material Characteristics
This material is nearly indistinguishable from low-grade steel, except that it is far more resistant to breakage.
Physical & Chemical Properties
This is a low-grade steel that has been saturated with stagnation power and shaped along with that power into something far more resistant than purely physical low-grade steel but much more flexible than high-grade steel. It is also even more resistant to heat forging but does not need to be tempered.
Origin & Source
This material was created by the Corthalian Empire shortly before its fall. It was an attempt to craft more resilient weapons for the Naturalist Alliance's forces touse against the enemies.
History & Usage
History
This compound is perceived as the only industrially beneficial item to come from the Shindars' allies. It is a staple of every military conflict that involves Corthalians since.
Discovery
People who visited the plane of stagnation realized that saturating certain materials in this power could make them more durable. This was one of the first saturated materials to be experimented with.
Everyday use
This alloy is commonly used in military veicles and industrial tools.
Cultural Significance and Usage
This alloy is now culturally associated with the Corthalian Republic. Its use as a component in industrial manufacture makes the purpose of its conception very ironic. The makers of this compound anticipated that it would be used in weapons, but they did not anticipate that post-war Gryst would view this material as a highly useful material and a revolutionary component in industry.
Industrial Use
This compound is used to reinforce heavy machinery and to increase the load capacity of load-bearing walls in large structures such as bridges. It is also used in steel cables and wires.
Refinement
Low-grade steelis transported to an area saturated in stagnant magic or to the elemental plane of stagnation. This material is intentionally overworked in these areas to insure tha the material becomes saturated as well. Only one tempering is needed before the stagnation-reinforced steel is ready for use.
Manufacturing & Products
Heavy0duty I beams, heavy-duty construction items such as screws, nails and staples, heavy-duty cars and electronic devices, and most significantly, sheets of metal for use in military vehicles.
Hazards
More slag is created in the manufacturing of this material. Falsely claiming that any steel product is comprised of this material could lead to serious injuries due to over-estimating the strength of the steel. Those who use this product have learned to double-check the strenght of the material before use because there is no physical way to tell whether or not it's legit.
Environmental Impact
This material has reduced the world's demand for traditional steel and iron products. However, the manufacturing of this material has shifted the strength of the stagnant plane due to its use in creative endeavors.
Reusability & Recycling
This material is reusable so long as it is not exposed to heat or water for extended periods of time. Scraps are often re-integrated into traditional steel manufacturing.
Distribution
Trade & Market
Currently, Corthalia has monopolized the manufacture of raw materials due to their expertise in true magic and how it can be integrated into products. Trade of this material is only ratified when the country is in good political standing with Corthalia and if its government is stable. Corthalian forces go to great efforts to reclaim material that has been lost due to change in government or abandonment in other countries or planes of existence.
Storage
This item must be stored in a very similar way to low-grade steel. It must be stord in cool, dry areas.
Law & Regulation
The Corthalian Republic heavily regulates the distribution of this metal. Only stable nations in good political standing with Corthalia may trade for this material. If the government destabilizes, Corthalia will attempt to force the country to destroy the material or give it back in exchange for the equivalent amount of money. If a country abandons vehicles or weapons containing this item in an unstable country or in an underpopulated area, Corthalia will send troops to reclaim it as swiftly as possible and either give it back to the nation that owns it or take it themselves to be re-used.
