GrimGlory Season One: Rise of the Golden Empire

'The brightest lights cast the darkest shadows.'

It is supposed to be the dawn of a new age for humanity, a golden age unburdened by their servitude to greater powers. They have overthrown the shackles of their servitude, raised new gods and built new kingdoms upon the ruins of their oppressors. Many of the other mortal races with whom they once shared the world have either retreated, isolating themselves in their small enclaves or kingdoms, leaving the vast expanse of the world free for humanity to expand into or they have built their own kingdoms, ones which humanity eyes with unabashed greed.

But like children who have escaped the attention of their parents, the mortal races have stumbled upon things beyond their understanding... and wittingly or not, they are perhaps the greatest danger the world has yet known. A threat greater than dragons, giants, and the fae combined.

'Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster.'

It is a dark age for the Children of the Fata, the Fae and Naturae spirits of the Wyld suffered greatly during the Tripartite Wars. The ones humanity call the "Elves" & their cousins the "Dwarves", "Gnomes", and "Goblins" have closed themselves off from the rest of the world, seeking to rebuild their fallen kingdoms and protect their sacred lands. To the Humans, they have become little more than legends at best.

Likewise, the Gigantes have all but disappeared from the world, leaving behind only the dark legacy of their gods, the Titans...and the cataclysmic aftereffects left in the wake of the centuries-spanning Tripartite Wars.

'And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.'

If anything rivals the curiosity and drive of humanity, it is the potential for both boundless goodness and depthless depravity. The youngest of the mortal races, they are spreading quickly throughout the Known Lands, across both the northern and southern continents; but as they do so, they are unwittingly breaking seals and compacts made before they ever emerged from their ancestral homelands as they encroach upon the sacred sites of the Fae and push at the borders of the inhuman kingdoms.

But the greatest threat humanity may face is not one they are even aware of. For deep within the earth, the imprisoned Forgotten Ones stir once more...and humanity is ripe for corruption.

'Better to light a single candle than curse the darkness.'
