Lost Temple of Tharizdun

General Summary

Planting 1, 577: An Agent of the Margrave of Bissel contacted the Company of the Saltmarsh Six. He asked them to Travel to Thornward in Bissel. When the arrived the Margrave offered them a commision to find the treasure hoard of Tsojcanth. They would be provided mounts, that they must pay back when they return, and they must turn over 15% of the wealth over to the Margrave. In return they will get to keep any magic items and the rest of the treasure they find.   The Company agrees, and sets off to the mountain pass with an escort from the Margrave the next day.   Planting 2, 577: They travelled for a day in the mountains. They came upon two Wyverns towards the night and made camp. Traveling east They discovered a depression in the mountains, well wooded. This turned out to be the home of Gnomes. They stayed with the gnomes for 2 days, enjoying the hospitality.   The gnomes gave them a clearer path to the Lost Caverns. And then at a feast on tht Third night. Laird Gwaylar the leader asks for their help. They explain there is a group of Norkers and their Mountain Giant Master. Sounds easy enough, they think.
The Company of the Saltmarsh Six agrees and raises glasses of gnomish ale drinking to the gnome village long and prosperous health!   5 Planting 577: They each have 3 days of rations wrapped with care by the Gnomes. Area 17 @ 28 hexes/50 8 planting 577: 15 # foods 10 Planting 577: 17 # food At Night Aarakocra approach and explain their problems with Griffons. The Party agrees to take care of the Griffons in exchange for a guide to the Temple. 11 Planting, 577: 11# food Slay Griffons. 12 Planting, 577: 30 # food
Reach the Temple of Tharizdun. Aarakocra leave in peace.
They assault the upper level of the temple and are victorious in wiping out the defenders including a Stone Giant and 2 Hill Giants.
Planting 13, 577: Return to the temple to continue the assualt. All forces were defending during the intial Assault. They instead explore the second area alert for danger. It takes them 3 hours to throughly explore. They descend to the second level: 12:30 PM   They encounter the Programmed Illusion, and find most of the temple abandoned except for a Nycodaemon, and a Coffer Corpse of great power... the high priest of Tharizdun. He still was not much of a threat.   They eventually made it to a large cave where they fought some meazles, and found an exit to a mountain meadow. But Carcharius was puzzled by this. He though he would find the Bronze Rungs from the Inset from the lower temple. The Company of the Saltmarsh Six go back up to find those descending rungs again which they do easily.   As they were descending Carcharius nearly fell to his death as a rung pulled out of the wall. He managed to catch himself (ACROBATICS 15) on a rung below.   They come into a central octagonal room and face an illusion of all violet with black runes which indicate for them... Unfit go left, succed go right, chosen go straight.   Jaegus was disintegrated! Turned into Black Ash! After oicking fruit from the tree in the Under Temple. Others faced Disintegration but received an ability point. When they reached the chosen room Veenaira figured out to don the cultist robes to resist the cold. Then she figured out she had to blow the horn. Then she figured out the Black Incense was needed and used it approproately. They descended stairs to the Black Cyst.   It is getting Colder and only iron torches from the inlet of the Lower Temple are giving off light. The Temple is dimming all light except for torches. In their heads.. they know this place is called the BLACK CYST. They come to a strange block amidst the needle obsidian walls. Near the block is a figure with three arms. The party places those torches into them and then place incense into a receptacle that appears to hold it. Veenaira blows the Horn Again and a secret door is revealed.   They find some some treasure. They are not sure of the god of Tharizdun, but they learned a little of it. They leave, saddened about Jaeger. They camp in the Meadow.
Planting 14, 577 They break camp and it takes them 2 days to get back to Gnome Vale on their mules. The Gnomes are happy to see them but sad one has perished.   They sell the treasure to the gnomes.

Found Iron Thuribles and strange Black spheres of Incence that required a Knock spell to acquire.
Blew the Iron Horn near the Pillars, and a Complex Programmed Illusion Resulted. They were assaulted with sensation but by the second illusion they disbelieved it.
