It has been known by many names through its endless lifespan. The Mist, Evil, Devil, and God are only a few. The entity is none of these. Yet the Darkness is like each in some way. It doesn’t remember the beginning of its never-ending life. It has always had two basic needs. Food and the need to cleanse the worlds it comes in contact with. The Darkness, like all living things, does what it must to ensure its survival.

Personal history
The Darkness doesn’t know its birth or where it came from. It only knows its missions that it has been fulfilling for so long that it has forgotten what it is. For countless years, it has gone from one plant to another cleansing it of the pests that plague it. Then, the planet can heal and become what it is meant to be. As the Darkness has evolved, its idea of what a pest is has changed. Its perception of vermin has developed into anything that ravages a planet. Most of the time the overpopulation of the ones that think they are the most important are the targets. Once the Darkness is gorged on its food, negative energy, and the planet is cleansed it moves on.
It was drifting through the emptiness of space and growing famished when it heard it being called. The Darkness changed her course. It came upon a planet in the ruins of war and ripe with something it had never encountered before, magic.
The planet was called Majase. Here is where the Darkness met the three witches. These new creatures were the first that imbraced it for all the glory that it is, and they taught it how to use magic. They feed the Darkness by torturing their own. The ones that became its minions. The Darkness had never let the creatures suffer as long as these and never knew the power it had. It reveled it.
One day the witches opened a portal that they said one of theirs fled through before the Drakness got there. It could sense an abundance of its nourishment, not in the world beyond but close. Scouts were sent and they found another portal that is where the world lay. It would have it.
Before it and its servants could make their way. Three of their prisoners escaped. They created an island and a barrier that the Darkness can not pass through. It remains trapped on Majase.
