Spider

Spiders are creatures of the night. They prey on anything that gets caught in their web, usually other insects, but also the occasional spirit. While they are sometimes understood as malevolent, others value the spider for their industry and ingenuity.
The Silkwoods is home to a special kind of spider known as the silkspider. These shiny blue-black spiders create even finer webs, which are collected to make spidersilk.

A Familiar Web

Some families invite the spiders into their homes as household guardians. Here, the spider can serve as a protector of thresholds, such as windows and doorways. They will protect the home from unwanted spirits, who can cause a lot of chaos indoors. To help their spider allies, people leave crumbled dried herbs, salt and other gifts for the spiders to bind up in their cobweb.
The spider is the symbol of the Edder dynasty. They bind their souls to heirlooms, so that they can keep watch over their descendants.
