Torren Wicks
Torren Wicks was born in Adheath, once one of Technara’s shining hubs of progress — a city powered by the Abericlase network, lit by stormlight cores, and humming with life. He grew up in a workshop tucked between the turbine towers and the lower conduits, where his parents designed power relays and crafted the enchanted tools that kept the city’s arcane grids alive.
Then, almost overnight, the lights went out.
When the Abericlase’s fall ruptured the continent’s energy lattice, Adheath plunged into chaos. Factories froze mid-turn, the upper platforms collapsed, and the first proxy wars between districts — conflicts fought not for land, but for any remaining functional cores and pieces of technology.
Torren’s workshop was stripped for parts before the second week. He gathered what equipment he could, grabbed his family, and fled through the smoke-choked alleys before Adheath’s powerlines finally burned out for good. They made it to the deserts, joining waves of Technaran refugees trying to survive without their machines.
Most never adapted. But Torren did.
He began rebuilding — not cities, but connections. He forged crude generator carts, repaired trade wagons, and repaired aqueducts that once hummed with electrical life. His work drew the attention of a half-orc traveler escorting aid to cut-off settlements — Captain Loryn Trav.
The two argued for two days straight before realizing they agreed on nearly everything. Loryn wanted to reconnect the continent’s people; Torren wanted to rebuild the tools to make that possible. When The Wayfarer's Guild was founded, Torren personally designed the first relay stations and mobile supply wagons. He refuses to call them “inventions.”
"They're reminders, not inventions. Proof that progress doesn't mean convenience, it means survival."
