Ebon Triad
The Ebon Triad is an insidious cult that unites heretics from the churches of three evil deities of Golarion: Asmodeus, Dahak, and Norgorber. The cult’s followers believe that, through their actions and rituals, they can merge the power of these three gods into a single, supreme Overgod, known as Malgorath. Cells of the Ebon Triad operate across the Inner Sea Region, gathering wealth, artifacts, and influence to advance their apocalyptic mission.
The official churches of Asmodeus, Norgorber, and Dahak vehemently denounce the Ebon Triad as blasphemous and misguided. Traditionally, the faiths of these three deities are opposed to one another, and the notion of merging their divine powers is seen as heretical by most followers. Despite this opposition, the deities themselves continue to grant spells and powers to the cultists of the Ebon Triad, a paradox that troubles the clergy of the parent faiths. To prevent the spread of these radical ideas, the churches of Asmodeus, Dahak, and Norgorber ruthlessly suppress knowledge of the Triad wherever possible, ensuring that most of Golarion’s populace remains unaware of the cult’s existence.
While many dismiss the Ebon Triad’s ultimate goal as impossible or delusional, the cult’s growing influence has not gone unnoticed. Wealthy benefactors and ambitious nobles are occasionally drawn to the Triad’s promise of power and favor under the new Overgod, providing the cult with funding and resources. These contributions fuel the Triad’s rituals, artifact recovery missions, and infiltration efforts, bringing them ever closer to their dark aspirations.

The Shattered Sentinels
"I saw him, one of those Shattered Sentinels, just as plain as I see you. He called out all five of 'em, accused 'em of stealing from from the Ebon Triad, they had no chance. He cut through 'em like they were nothing, his sword flashing quicker than lightning. It was brutal, no mercy, no hesitation. Blood everywhere. And when he was done, he just walked away, calm as you please. No one dared stop him, no one even moved. We were all too scared, too shocked. Never seen anything like it, and I hope I never do again."The Shattered Sentinels are the elite enforcers of the Ebon Triad, serving as guardians, executioners, and protectors of the cult’s most vital secrets. Known for their terrifying combat prowess and unwavering loyalty, they are feared both within and outside the cult. Within the Ebon Triad, the Shattered Sentinels hold several critical roles:
- Guardians: Protecting sacred sites, sect leaders, and powerful artifacts.
- Enforcers: Maintaining discipline within the cult and eliminating traitors or dissenters.
- Frontline Warriors: Leading assaults or defending key positions during conflicts.
- Secret Keepers: Safeguarding the cult’s most sensitive information and conducting covert missions.
Ebon Guardian
The Ebon Guardians are an enigmatic order within the Ebon Triad, comprising druids and nature-focused casters who view the creation of Malgorath as a necessary cataclysm to cleanse and renew the natural world. They believe the current cycle of existence is irreparably corrupted and that the Overgod’s ascension will restore balance through destruction. Ebon Guardians often serve as the Triad’s emissaries to the wilds, securing resources and ensuring the cult’s influence extends into untamed lands.Mythology & Lore
From the fanatical peripheries of the three evil churches comes a blasphemous doctrine known as the Way of the Ebon Triad, an anonymously penned collection of essays and scrolls soaked in phantasmagoric allegory and apocalyptic ecstasy. The Way outlines, in vague terms, a series of rituals and portentous events culminating in the unification of three divine artifacts: the Scepter of Infernal Dominion (Asmodeus), the Amulet of the Worldbreaker (Dahak), and the Veil of Shadows (Norgorber). These artifacts are said to fuse into the Mantle of the Overgod, the key to creating Malgorath.
Outlaws even within their own religions, adherents of the Ebon Triad travel the world in search of fellow believers, banding together to influence important events and edge Golarion closer to catastrophe. For the faithful, the creation of Malgorath promises salvation through destruction: the complete unmaking of existence, including the past, present, and future, to pave the way for a new, perfect reality. To its adherents, the annihilation of the current universe is not an end but a necessary beginning.
Divine Origins
The rise of Malgorath is foretold in numerous unholy tomes, including the Necronomicon, Libris Mortis, Book of Vile Darkness, and the Apostolic Scrolls, as well as the foundational doctrine known as the Way of the Ebon Triad. These texts describe the Overgod as the ultimate culmination of divine power, a being capable of reshaping reality itself.
One prophecy from the Way of the Ebon Triad states:
A Tripartite Spirit shall once again become one, and at its advice will the Mighty be undone.Loyal followers of the Ebon Triad understand this "tripartite spirit" not as the gods themselves, but as the three divine artifacts tied to their domains. The High Council’s ultimate goal is to fuse these artifacts into the Mantle of the Overgod, sacrificing their own lives and spiritual essences to complete the ritual and bring Malgorath into existence. To the Ebon Triad, this act of unity is the final step toward their apocalyptic salvation and the dawn of a new cosmic order.
