Algolon
In the vast cosmos beyond mortal comprehension, two celestial brothers were born from the very fabric of the universe—Algolon and Zalatas. Created as twin aspects of cosmic balance set to guard the universe against creatures who escaped the void when the Living Gate was destroyed. For eons, they stood together, guardians of reality, until the whispers of the Forgotten Mad God, Tharzduun, reached Zalatas.
Seduced by promises of unfathomable power, Zalatas betrayed his celestial purpose and began breaking the chains that bound Tharzduun within the Abyss. He became the Breaker of Chains, a harbinger of destruction set on unraveling the fabric of the universe. The betrayal devastated Algolon, but he knew his duty—to stop his own brother before the cosmos fell into ruin.
Knowing that outright destruction of such a powerful being was impossible, Algolon sent forth his devoted celestial knights, the Wind Dukes of Algolon, to confront Zalatas. The battle was fierce, and though the Wind Dukes fought valiantly, they could not kill Zalatas. Instead, they sought a way to imprison him forever. Drawing upon Algolon’s infinite wisdom, they obtained two powerful artifacts—the Wyrmstones and the divine forgehammer known as Requiem.
With these weapons in hand, the Wind Dukes struck Zalatas down, but it was Algolon himself who wielded the final blow. Using an Ioun Stone infused with a Wish spell, he sealed Zalatas' soul within the legendary Soul Stone of Imprisonment. To ensure that his brother would never return, Algolon shattered the Soul Stone into three fragments and scattered them across the world. The celestial light of his power illuminated the sky, and as the radiance faded, only star-like nodes remained, rising into the heavens as the darkness receded.
Having fulfilled his divine mission, Algolon withdrew from direct interference, entrusting the gods with the continued protection of Golarion. Though his presence is now only seen in celestial omens and the guidance of his followers, the Wind Dukes, Algolon remains an unwavering sentinel, ever watchful for threats that might rise again from the void.
