Kason Rushing (a.k.a. The Gill)
Kason Rushing is a hundred and thirty-three year old merman vigilante, part of the team known as the Cosmic Gladiators.
Kason is a rare kind of merfolk, he chooses to not disguise himself as human and instead grow legs and present as he naturally appeaes when on land. He does this as a follower of his family's ancient tradition, where they would present themselves to humans and protect them as false gods.
He uses his paranatural powers to fight crime and prevent evil from reigning in the state of Ghostwood. His exploits are difficult when not near the water, however, as his regenerative healing abilities require him to be hydrated almost consistently. This led to him developing a suit that can retain his body moisture.
Rushing's family is one of the oldest families of merfolk in Ghostwood, dating back to the days of indigenous American civilizations. Tribes across the coasts worshipped them as gods--or feared them as demons. The Rushing family has not disguised themselves as humans for thousands of years, thus leading to the loss of their generic merfolk ability to do so.
During the Government Hero Program, he, alongside several other paranatural beings, formed the Cosmic Gladiators. They continue to fight crime in the state of Ghostwood due to its legalization of vigilantism.
