The ancient order of mages, founded by Merlin the wise in the court of king Arthur of Camelot brought to the modern age with the breaking of The Mutespell, which was cast in Camelot as a last resort, they seek to re-establish their control in the modern world.

The Merlinians are defined by their anchronism, with it's adults being born thousands of years ago, and their strict view of magic.
These two elements lead most of the order to still be somewhat xenophobic towards the modern world seeing themselves as the sole responsible wardens of magic amongst a world who does not know enough about the arcane to handle it with the maturity and care it requires.

To keep all magic under strict supervision and control the good of society, and to arrest and bind all that would use it irresponsibly, with those harming others using magic being a priority.

The treasuries of Camelot hold within them many powerful items of magic, as well as a considerable fortune of gold, all made available to the Merlinians with king Arthur's death.
History
On new year's eve, 1985, a prophecy has come to pass.
among the celebrating millions who crowded the streets of London, in Trafalgar square, mystical powers started shifting, and as the clock struck midnight, space itself was warped and an ancient land has returned to where it once stood.
Tearing the space of the square and stretching it across its borders the ancient city of mages, Camelot has returned to it's rightful place. with Camelot's re-apperance and the breaking of the Mute spell, magic has returned to the world. many secret sects, hidden in waiting for the return of Camelot and the arrival of the modern magical age sprung forth and at their helm, stood the Merlinian Order.
Powerful mages with ancient knowledge lost to time who led the city-state of Camelot into the new era. With their return the spell holding magic in secret across the world broke, allowing those orders who lived in secrecy for a millennia to come to the forefront and either aide in the superpowered conflicts or contribute to them, working with the chaos, Morgana la fey spreads magical discontent and animosity towards the Merlinians, as well as bestowing wild magic to sow chaos. after adjusting themselves somewhat to the modern era, almost after returning to the world and almost loosing their way of life in the morganian resurgence, the Merlinian open school of the arcane arts in 1993. Founded by Prime Merlinian Miranda De Loch, allowing those who dedicated themselves to learn the controlled magics of Camelot, bolstering the ranks of the order and ensuring it's future despite the dwindling number of old wizards.

Demography and Population
The order is divided across time and class, there are those who lived in old camelot, now adults (as the rematerialization happened 25 years ago) and those who joined the order in the modern age, or were born to those who lived in the old times. between these two groups, there are tensions of class and age, with many of the old guard not originaly wanting to allow any outsiders to join the order. In current times, the leaderhsip of the order only includes one member who did not live in the old world, Yukiko Musashi, the current Supreme Magus Arcanum who's political views bring to stark contrast the generational conflict.
Territories
Camelot is located in the area of london, which was stretched back to it's original form when the city reapeared in the modern era. it is only about 5 squared km large, consisting of the large castle turned campus and some surrounding farmlands, which were gifted back to the UK in exchange for citizenship for the castle's dwellers in 1992.
Military
The merlinian order boasts many trained wizards, some remaining from the old days (though greatly diminished due to their years of isolation fighting morgana and her forces) and new recruits and students of the open school of magic.
Foreign Relations
Camelot functions as an autonamous city state within the UK, being as small as it is, it does not usually concern itself in matters that are not magic related. when magic is concerned, the merlinians seek to restrain all use of magic outside of the order's teachings, however they tend to prioritise those who actively threaten or hurt them or the general population.

The merlinian council, a group of the most trusted advisors and the prime merlinian herself act as the legislative body of camelot. until his death king arthur had overseen the council under his banner, being replaced by the prime merlinian (merlin at the time) upon his death.
