Kingdom of Eldonia

The Kingdom of Eldonia is the most populous kingdom in Aldion and has existed for many centuries. It has seen much internal conflict, as well as conflict with other nations close and far. It has a tradition of valuing power and expansion and rulers have led the country according to this ideal for almost as long as its existance. The Kingdom spans the entirety of the Eldon Peninsula, as well as the lands beyond it. It has an expansive coastline that encompasses fertile fields, green hills and lush forests. Mountains on the peninsula are sparse, however towards its continental borders mountain ranges are more plentiful. As a result of being surrounded by water it has a moderate oceanic climate, though sees some cold winters as well as hot summers in some years.   The Kingdom of Eldonia was not as quick to the colonizing game as its competing powers in Aldion, however had at some point the most sizeable colonial empire of all nations, primarily in Sinisterra. The last half century it has lost significant colonial possessions however, most notably its colonies we now know as the Imperial Federation of Novaris. The colonial viceroy together with the leading general staged a coup in 1848 and have since turned the colony into an independent country outside of control of the Kingdom of Eldonia. Although formally still at war and, other than some small military raids back and forth its armies have seen little fighting. At sea however its navies are still frequently engaged in battle however.   At home little nations dare to enter conflict with the Kingdom of Eldonia. It saw its last major continental conflict in the 1820s when republicanism spread through the continent and eventually lead to the birth of the Aldion Republic of Hochwald. Ever since it has commonly been involved in smaller conflict to suppress the republic attitude spreading through Aldion, but hasn’t seen full out war like it did in the 1820 or during its colonial rebellions. Its current King, Nathaniel II, is only 9 years old and therefore a recency council led by his mother, queen regent Eleanor Stirling, currently leads and represents the country.
