Charmelans

Charmelans are an ethnic group of people residing mostly in the Kingdom of Charmelac and its (former) colonies. When the Kingdom of Aubigny gained independence from the Kingdom of Charmelac, the Aubignyans developed as a diverged ethnicity. Charmelans almost without exception speak High Aldion as their mother tongue.

Ethnic Abilities - Charmelans

When designing a character, a player chooses positive and negative ethnic abilities of equal value. Custom suggestions are possible upon approval by the GM. Mixed ethnicity abilities can be custom designed as well.

Since all characters are human, you are always Adaptable: Humans begin play with any Novice Edge of their choosing. They must meer its Requirements as usual.

Typical Charmelan characteristics are:
Agile (2): Charmelans are an active and agile people. They start with a d6 Agility instead of a d4. This increases maximum Spirit to d12+1.
Hooved (1): From the rich to the poor, many will at some stage in their life learn to ride a horse. The Riding trait starts at d4.
Educated (1): Most Charmelans receive a base education through the school system. One specialization of the Academics trait starts at d4.
Tall (1): Charmelans stand taller than your average Aldion people. Their Size (and therefore Toughness) is increased by +1. Maximum Strength is increased one step. You may have difficulty in some other nations finding stock items suitable for people of your size (like clothing).
Racial Enemy (-1): From the early days of colonization, Charmelans saw conflict with local natives. Many have lost family or property at the hands of savage natives. Others have suffered their raids themselves. The Khotami are your Racial Enemy. You subtract 2 from Persuasion when dealing with them and may become hostile with little provocation.
Child of Luxury (-1): Charmelans are used to having access to all sorts of luxury and are losing their instincts to survive 'in the wild'. All Survival rolls suffer a -1 penalty.
Strict Etiquette (-1): You'll have a hard time finding a Charmelan breaking etiquette or losing their temper in public. You gain the Mild Mannered (minor) Hindrance. You subtract -2 from all Intimidation rolls.
Greedy (-1): Every Charmelan strives to obtain the wealth of a king or queen one day. You gain the Greedy (minor) Hindrance and always argue bitterly for more than your fair share of any loot or reward your party might come across.
