Soul Magic

Soul magic is a form of magic related to the soul and the spirit world. It is primarly practiced by the Thorn Elves of Stellcida. Soul magic is closely linked to dreaming, and users often consume an extract of the Winterthorn plant to achieve a deep trance-like sleep to unlock the full potential of soul magic. It is a passive form of magic, lacking any offensive capabilities. It has some interesting techniques used by those proficient with soul magic.  

Soul Weaving

Soul weaving is the act of sacrificing one's body to bind their soul to another, uniting them into a single soul and combining their knowledge. It is a challenging ritual, and is most likely to succeed with both participants in a deep sleep, assisted by a group of Dream Guiders. The demanding level of the ritual require the user that sacrifices himself to be a skilled user. Thus, this technique is mostly used to transfer knowledge from older generations to the young.   The Thorn Elves use it to achieve the level of wisdom of their Elven ancestors, since their lifespan has dramatically dropped since their flight from their homeland. However, the souls degrade over time, and their knowledge completely vanishes after multiple soul weaving rituals. This means that souls cannot be infinitely stacked, as there is a limit on how many times souls can get passed on.  

Soul Channeling

Soul channeling is a more advanced variant of soul weaving, where a sacrificed user is not necessary. Instead, a soul is bounded directly from the spirit world. This can be any spirit from a deceased person, if their soul is still intact. However, this is an incredibly dangerous technique. Unlike in soul weaving, the soul to bind to is not known before hand, and evil souls living in the spirit world can deceive users to bind to them, corrupting the soul of the user in the process.   Thorn Elves still risk this dangerous undertaking, as they believe there is still a chance to find the mythical Soul of the Prophet, the soul of their Chosen One Eldarin the Prophet who was destined to restore the purity of the Thorn Elves. All attempts thus far have failed, and many have become corrupted. These corrupted Thorn Elves now form a secret organization called The Touched Souls. Unbeknowst to the Thorn Elves, the Soul of the Prophet has already been found, as it was trapped by the Shadow Monks of Amorkai in a powerful magical artifact known as The Eagle Eye. However, the Shadow Monks of Amorkai have no knowledge of the identity and significance of their imprisoned spirit.
