Winterthorn

The Winterthorn is a plant that thrives in the harsh colds of the forests around Stellcida. With its long, sharp thorns and delicate flowers that bloom during the winter months, it is both beautiful and dangerous. The Winterthorn possesses a potent poison within its sap, capable of inducing a deep slumber that can hold its victims in an eternal dream-like state. Legends say that those afflicted by the Winterthorn's poison may experience vivid and enchanting visions, forever trapped within their own minds.   Despite its deadly nature, the Winterthorn has found some practical use. Thorn Elves are able to use it in limited dosages to perceive visions of the future. However, their frequent consumption of the poison has made their eyes turn white. The gnomes of Moinadeir add the spores of the flower as a secret ingredient to their dishes, causing a relaxing feeling when consumed.   The brown branches on which the Winterthorn leaf grows are actually the roots who have shot upground of the Mother Tree, a giant tree of Elvish origin in the middle of the Thorn Forest. Without this tree, the Winterthorn would not exist. The branches of the Winterthorn can actually be used for woodworking. The famous blue thorn leaf the Winterthorn is known for grows on the roots of the Mother Tree, who bloom as a deep red flower once per winter.   During the Battle of the Thorn Forest, the Winterthorn played a significant role in the conflict.
