Childhood and Upbringing
Martim was born to
Lady Ana Vellar and
Lord Valaris Vellar IV in 171 AG, from a young age he was trained in martial combat by swordmaster Antonio Duarte whilst he was educated in state affairs and history by a professor named Luis Fonila. Growing up Martim would develop a very close relationship with
Fredrico Fluxpora as they would spend many summers together; as the pair grew into their teenage years this bond would only grow stronger and their hobbies shifted from playing in the woods
into a desire for adventure. Both Fredrico and Martim were talented fighters in their own right and inspired by Books such as
‘The Quests of Sigvald Hollerand’ they decided they would forge their own destiny. An elven adventurer by the name of
Orion Goldenleaf would encounter the pair after his visit to
Vellar, his reputation drew the boys to him and they pitched their idea of acquiring the sword
Sigvald’s Bane. After months of preparation and a close fight leading to the death of Orion's friend
Fush Raha the weapon was recovered,
a weapon Martim still wields to this day. This would massively boost the prestige of Fredrico and Martim to the extent that
King Doma III of Bocamar would sent them a letter acknowledging their feat.
Throughout Martim’s late teens early twenties he would join the
Iron Spears of Vellar and travel across the world fighting in wars and gaining him
major experience as a commander. His years campaigning was cut short in 189 AG when he received news of his fathers death, therefore he swiftly returned to Vellar. Upon Martim’s arrival from the far north he realised that in his absence his brother
Vallor Vellar had claimed the Lordship of the town; Martim was enraged by this and
challenged his brother to a duel for the title. In order to preserve his honour and integrity Vallor accepted… The duel was intense;
each brother had achieved remarkable martial feats in their lives and trained in combat from a young age. The speed of each strike was so fast that many onlookers claimed it was as if they were a blur. Finally after 5 minutes of rapid combat Martim disarmed his brother and struck him down
securing his position and authority as undisputed Lord of Vellar.
Martim Vellar to his brother Vallor before the final blow- “Only the strongest may rule brother… You may be stronger than most men in Gafaar, but you were foolish to think that you were stronger than me.”
Lordship
\
Martim has proved to be a strong leader since becoming Lord of Vellar, throughout the first decade of Martim’s leadership,
Tiago II "Aravil o Ja Miran" of Aldarr still possessed power, therefore Martim would retain Vellars vassalage. Throughout this period Martim
nurtured the relationship between Vellar and Fluxpora using his long term friendship with Fredrico to achieve this, together trade agreements would be achieved which greatly supported each town. Upon Tiago’s death Fluxpora and Vellar would announce a joint declaration of independence and
they solidified a military alliance.
Martim would also grow to have a lot of respect for
King Max De Julio IV of Lesaboca because of his ability to restore Lesaboca's military and army due to his diligence. Fluxpora,
Vellar and
Lesaboca (whilst King Max was in power) would enter
discussions regarding alliances, a potential reboot of the League and trade agreements; however this would all be
halted by Queen Belesa 'the Beautiful' De Julio of Lesaboca coup against her father in 205 AG which would greatly sour Lesaboca’s relations with Vellar and Fluxpora. Now, 3 years later talks are reigniting as Martim has a great desire to achieve a trade agreement with
Paloampo, now an ally of Lesaboca.
Personalilty
Martim respects physical strength and diligence. He is greatly supportive of ambitious adventurers who wish to tackle impossible challenges should they do it for the glory of Vellar. He is a
calculated man who strategically thinks ahead, furthermore Martim is a
brilliant military commander and an inspiring leader. This has earnt him a great deal of respect across Gafaar as many know his name and deeds.
He cares for the needs of the people of Vellar hence the desire to reach an agreement with Paloampo. Martim is a man who is not afraid to use force and
should someone betray him it is unlikely they will ever earn back the respect of Martim.
