Strait of Zedividti
The Strait of Zedividti is a narrow channel separating the continents of Abhagan and Khelegan. It connects Par Zendylhia (the Zendylite Sea, itself part of the greater Targotian Sea) in the west with Par Ezma (the East Sea) in the east, and is the only known all-season sea route for crossing from one side of the continents to the other.
Geography
The Strait is approximately 100 Forthmarch in length, and is surprisingly deep and unobstructed, leading explorers to speculate that it originated as a fissure during the Targotian Cataclysm. Both the Ezdarosh Peninsula of Abhagan to the north, and the Nayamanhia of Khelegan to the south are ruggedly mountainous.
History
In 1354ATC, an expedition from the Zendylite Empire under Zendyl Hatora do Aylia, better known by his historical moniker "Zedividti", discovered the Strait while charting the coasts northeast of Col Aylia. After exploring the waterway and discovering what he named "Par Ezma", or the Eastern Sea, Zedividti went on to discover and claim for the Empire the islands of Sia Aloria, Sia Corelor, and Sia Khelemaia, before returning home, where he was honored with the "do Aylia" epithet by his Family Head for his achievements.
Over the ensuing decade, the Empire settled and fortified the Strait, building the Baz Nayaman fortress on the eastern side of the Nayamanhia Peninsula of Khelegan, and founding Col Darsia on the north Khelgaian shores of Par Ezma. Sia Aloria, Sia Corelor, and Sia Khelemaia, in the northwest Par Ezma, were also settled extensively, with Sia Corelor maintaining an Imperial naval station and garrison for the archipelago's protection.
The Mor'Rhaia Incursion
In 2990ATC, the ancient "Jewel of the West" Targos, and all its Colarchate, rebelled against the Zendylite Empire, embroiling Sharr Zendylhia in civil war. As the Empire shifted resources to put down the rebellion, the opportunistic Mor'Rhaia in the east, ever pleased to take advantage of a weakness in their enemy, struck against Col Darsia, capturing the ancient city swiftly and sweeping through Imperial territory. Sia Corelor and its neighboring islands were taken, the Baz Nayaman was besieged and slighted, and by the turn of the millennium, the Strait of Zedividti belonged to Mor'Rhavid.
I love the styling on the map here.
Thank you! I found a couple of filters I really like to run my art and photos through for using on WA, and I was happy it worked well for the map too :) It was killing me, not having artwork on any of my articles!
