Princess ShyRedFox

Princess Badger is not a title Shy ever expected to carry. "Shocked to the core," is how she described the discovery of her having royal badger blood, when The Late Great Badger's Diary was found in the Meles Library basement.
  For Shy, helping her nephew Regent, Prince Galakrond and her half sister, Queen Purpleheart lead House Meles is an honor and a privilege. She feels a Princess and Trifecta leadership member should first and foremost be a servant. She's proud to serve House Meles in any way she can.
  Other duties she carries include House Librarian and conniving plots to help with badger recruitment.
  Shy is also the Oyabun (clan head) of the Self Care Mafia.
 

Literomancy

Shy is a tinkerer at heart and ever curious. Her Literomancy skills and interests attest to this.
 

Research

Since 2023 she’s been leading a team researching into why the Nite Monarchs develop. The only significant link so far is having access or being near to The Iron Tome.

She also lead a team to infuse Literomantic Power into The Wolverine Line mag lev train system between the Woodlander protectorates. Though, she only has so much energy to give. She worked with Senna Nightshade to incorporate a group based Literomantic Energy Generation into the system so it wasn't a drain on individuals.

Interests

Carving out free time is becoming harder with the added responsibilities Shy carries. But when she's able, she heads to the forest, climbs a tree, and writes, reads books from the library, or knits. She finds these hobbies soothing after a hectic day of royal duties or trying to wrangle baby badgers.
 

History

Youth

During the winter of 1647, Shy was welcomed into the world by her maternal kitsune family in the Gaia Verse. Her father wasn't in the picture. Her mother was named Glee RedFox. Though, her mother later married Jo CrossFox, and Jo adopted Shy. Shy's childhood was filled with innocent exploration and play. Her parents encouraged her to learn anything that captured her attention.
 

Marriage

In early 1851, Shy met an imori named Kimotsuki Yorimoto. Despite their species difference they connected over their interests and curiosity, and fell in love. Shy's kitsune family instantly took to Yorimoto and his gentle nature. The pair were married later the same year.
  Shy was known for getting turned around in large cities. So, Yorimoto gave Shy a necklace that would always point him to her should she be unable to find her way. It was a relief to have the necklace after a few incidents of being completely lost.
 

Capture

A gate into the Gaia Verse was discovered in 1875 and closed down shortly afterward. But not before Black Carl Sasuga, the puppet-master Night Monarch and Ghost Fox yakuza clan leader of the Meridian Verse, managed to capture several citizens and take them back with him before the entry was closed. Shy was among those captured and was enslaved for 97 years before she managed to break free from Carl's control.
  She does not speak of that time and the things she was forced to do in the Ghost Fox clan.
 

Arrival in the Tomeverse

After finally breaking free via faking her death, Shy fled from the Meridian Verse and the control of Black Carl Sasuga in 1972. But she was unable to find a way home.
  She spent most of her life in the Tomeverse dabbling in things that interested her (from programming for a government contractor to textile arts to attempting to learn various languages). In 1991, she enrolled in Meles School of Literomantic Technology and Mining Engineering and got bachelors degrees in Literomantic Math and Computer Science.
  Nine-tailed foxes are rare. She hid many of her tails to help hide her identity.
 

Previous duties

She's the former head of the now defunct House Kitsune and a former Stinger Squadron guard in House Apis for Queen Bee Dani.
 

Badger Scout Companion

Clawdia, a young European badger, follows most everyone in the Meles den around. But she bonded with Shy in September of 2022.
  As Shy was making her way to the den after House Apis closed down, she found a baby badger that said she was lost and couldn't find her mother. The little tyke was hungry, so Shy took the badgerling in and fed her.
  Clawdia's favorite food is donuts. Lots of them.
 

Time with the Brocktrees

In late 2022, Great Badger Darth Nikolas invited Shy to join the Brocktrees. She thrived in the environment and the acceptance she found in Meles and the guard unit.
  In November of 2023, she stepped down from the Brocktrees to make room for new guards and help provide stability for the house should one of its leaders fall. (The Brocktrees were traditionally a royalty and seneschal heavy group.)
  Great Badger Darth Nikolas, his consort, and Prince Galakrond disappeared after The Fourth Word War. They were researching the Iron Tome and last sent word that it may be from another dimension.
 

Discovery of Royal Blood

July 1, 2024, Purpleheart found the diary of the late Great Badger in the Meles Library basement. After the journal was verified, both Purple and Shy were added to the Royal House of Meles line and took up the title of Princess Badger.
  In light of the king, consort, and heir being presumed dead after multiple years since they disappeared, on June 25, 2025 Queen Purpleheart ascended to the throne and Shy took up the mantle of Seneschal.
  Thankfully, Gala was able to rescue his father, The Great Badger Nik, from the dimension hinted at in their last communication. And Nik took up the title of Duke.
  (The issue of Shy's father being the late Great Badger is a puzzle that she's turned over and over in her mind, since the diary was discovered. She's older than the diary entry would suggest. Her best guess is that it has to do with traveling to other dimensions and that time may flow a different rates. She's quite sure time travel isn't possible. )
 

Shy's Husband Arrives in the Tomeverse

In November 2024, Shy received word of Yorimoto finally tracking her down to the Tomeverse. He arrived in Japan, where she travelled to meet him for a joyous reunion after so very long apart.
  While they toured Japan together, Shy discovered Black Carl and a white wolf with horns had made it to the Tomeverse. Unbeknownst to her, Carl noticed her, too. If she could break free once, she might again. So she wouldn't recognize the magic, Carl had Akui put a perception alteration spell on Shy to keep her from alerting the world about him.
  Shy knew that Carl couldn't just be satisfied with controlling the Meridian Verse, he was here for the Tome and the Tomeverse. He'd use is puppeteering and his army of yokai, LitMon, and other enslaved beings to take up the role of the Tome Verse's Night Monarch. For months, Akui's spell and shame kept her from being able to communicate the danger she saw coming, despite her best attempts.
 

Becoming the Night Monarch

Out of desperation, Shy decided to beat Carl to the punch. She'd become the Night Monarch instead to spare her family and the Tome Verse having to be Carl's slaves. It wasn't ideal by any means, as they'd still lose their will. But she would give their freedom back as soon as she could.
  October 31, 2025: Foxx was there when Shy turned and joined her. The pair formed the Kitsune-gumi. They approached Archon The Bard with Many Names and AttorraRu for help to save the yokai and LitMon and ultimately this verse. Bard and Ru joined and the "Gumi" started the war strong.

She wears a braided gold ring to remind herself that she isn't alone: clan, kith and the SCM, and her husband were there for her when she needed them.
