Blighted Ward of Clarion

The Blighted Ward of Clarion—once known as the Sommer Ward—stands as a somber testament to the volatile tides of power and the fragility of affluence.   Situated within the city of Clarion, this district was once a luxurious enclave for the elite, adorned with grand estates and manicured gardens. However, three decades ago, the resurgence of the Black Fog Plague decimated its population, conveniently eliminating many who opposed Bres Nuada's rise to power and his revival of the old Fogholt traditions.   Today, the Blighted Ward is a desolate landscape of decay and abandonment. Overgrown vegetation chokes the once-pristine estates, their facades cracked and worn. The air is thick with the scent of decay and the lingering odour of the mysterious sickness that once swept through the area. Notable landmarks include the estates of the Ducard, Nuada, Sallya and Skytracer Sommer Homes, all now in varying states of ruin. In the distance, Hego's Lighthouse flickers weakly, casting ghostly beams of light over the somber landscape.   The ward is sparsely populated, primarily by those who have nowhere else to go. The fear of divine retribution and the strict laws of Unna Maska keep even the most desperate inhabitants in line. The Hollow Priests, enforcers of these edicts, patrol the area to ensure compliance. The masks worn by all Clarion's residents are still seen here, though they are often more tattered and less ornate than those worn in the Central Ward.   Despite its decline, the Blighted Ward retains an aura of historical importance. The remnants of its former grandeur serve as a silent witness to the political machinations and familial legacies of Clarion's ruling class.             The Sommer Ward was a luxurious area where affluent families once enjoyed the tranquility and beauty of Clarion. However, thirty years ago, a resurgence of the Black Fog Plague struck the ward, decimating its population. This event, whether by design or fate, facilitated Bres Nuada’s consolidation of power, transforming the area into what is now known as the Blighted Ward.
