The Sacred Balm
The Sacred Balm is the god of healing and wellbeing, with dominion over medicines and the healing arts, but also over poisons and disease.
Cult of the Sacred Balm
In their blue robes accentuated by simple, copper brooches and medallions, the clerists of the Sacred Balm are a welcome sight to many, representing a high standard of care without the cost of a chirugeon.- Temple: Order of the Sanguine House - The priests of the Balm run hospitals and hospices across Moray, where any can come for treatment. They also preach and advise on public health and care for the sick and the needy.
- Cloister:
- Order of the Giving Leaf - The cloisters of the Balm are home to great herb gardens and herbaria. The monks are gardeners, apothecaries and herbalists, and their libraries are a matchless source of medical and herbal lore.
- Order of the Shadowed Root - Certain smaller cloisters are managed by an order of toxicologists and alchemists. Although they make no effort to hide their work and are invaluable as a source of antidotes and curatives for various poisons and venoms, they are dogged by rumours of poisonings.
- Mendicant: Order of Graceful Quiescence - This order consists of travelling healers and rumoured assassins. There is no evidence of the latter, but their belief in euthenasia when a person's quality of life falls below a certain threshold puts them at odds with many in the Queendom.
- Martial:
- Order of Restful Repose - A custodial order responsible for defending hospitals and hospices, both those of the cult and others.
- Order of the Valkyr - These errants join whatever fight they come across, not to support one side or another, but to tend to and defend the wounded of every side, offering succour to all, and peace when they cannot bring healing.
