The Heavenly General

The Heavenly General is the god of war, and especially armies. Although not a great one, she has many kennings, for she is the two-faced Saint of Soldiers, who wears the dread helm of the Slayer of Multitudes and the bright helm of the Divine Strategist, both the bloody-handed wager of war and its detached architect.

Cult of the Heavenly General

As befits a two faced god, the cult of the Heavenly General is a house divided between meticulous strategists and sapients of action. All wear red tunics and trousers, similar in style to the garb of a soldier, rather than full-length robes. Strategists accessorise with silver, soldiers with steel.
  • Temple:
    • Order of the Steel-Bound Stave - Priests of the Saint of Soldiers are the defenders of the Common Church and the faith. They preach on military matters and sometimes act as circuit judges for trials of religious malfeasance. While typically heavily armed and highly trained, they are not considered a martial order because of their preaching activities.
    • Order of the Silver Rod - The Divine Strategist's priests function primarily as leaders of the various martial orders in time of war, and offer strategic advice to the secular authorities in times of peace. Many of the Silver Rod's members preach to military congregatins at the border garrisons.
  • Cloister:
    • Order of the Broken Blade - The Saint's cloistered communities are made up of former soldiers, retired knights and mercenaries, many of whom were invalided out of military service, others who grew tired of violence. They attempt to provide a peaceful environment and provide support for other veteran fighters.
    • Order of the Grey Mantle - The Strategist's monastic followers provide shelter not for soldiers, but for those who have been widowed or orphaned by war.
  • Mendicant:
    • Order of the Iron Hand - The mendicant followers of the Saint of Soldiers train in weapons and unarmed combat and make it their duty to help communities build defences against exploitation by bandits and by corrupt knights and nobles. They are often unpopular with their social superiors.
    • Order of the Glass Mind - The Strategist's mendicants are military scholars and spies, dedicated to gathering and disseminating information on the enemies of the Queendom and the Cult.
  • Martial:
    • Order of the Bloodfire - This penitent order of berserkers seek redemption by giving their service to any fight that seems worthy. Many consider them as dangerous to their own as to their enemies, as they fight with a wild fury that is frightening to behold.
    • Order of the Mailed Glove - The Saint is also patron to an errant order who act as champions for worthy causes, the more doomed the better. Like the Iron Hand, they are often considered a liability by the state.
    • Order of the Stone Wall - Like the Order of the Glade, this custodial order defends the Church and the Queen's Peace. They often find themselves at odds with the Iron Hand and the Mailed Glove.
    • Order of the Surging Wave - This singular militant order are trained for naval operations in concert with the Morayan Fleet. While it does recruit from trained sailors, its members operate more as marines.
