Dream Touched

The dream-touched were created by the magisters of the Highspire Dominion during the Era of Empires by fusing entities from the astral, the realm of thought and dreams, with physical beings. This transformation granted the dream-touched great mental fortitude and some uncanny abilities which made them excellent counterinsurgents. They became a key part of the Dominion's security forces, and the image of black-clad, glowing-eyed inquisitors persists as the face of unacceptable authority in south Eraskan art to this day.   After the Cataclysm, the dream-touched lacked a state protector and frequently became a target of resentment and violence. As a result, they scattered across Galath, finding it easy to hide as long as they avoided black clothing and the focused use of their powers. Over the years, some, but not all, of the children of dream-touched have also been born dream-touched. The few scholars who know of and have studied the phenomenon believe that since the destruction of the Dominion arcanories where they were created, there remain a fixed number of astral spirits bonded to the lineage. On the death of any dream-touched, their partner spirit will seek a new host in their bloodline, and a child will be born dream-touched only if a spirit is available.
