Natural Golem
(Natural Golems are a CA race, and may not be played without making an application.) Natural Golems are a curious creature, indeed. Made from Gaia's own pulse running through the ley-lines, many argue that they are the truest form of life on the material plane, the plane giving itself life through its own naturalistic processes. Regardless of the truth of this, they are some of the most unpredictable beings on the face of Anoma, from size and shape, to its intelligence, to its temperament, all of its features are highly variable.
Racial Abilities
Natural Golems, generally speaking, are not as durable as their constructed cousins, but they are almost always stronger. While a constructed golem must be taught languages, a natural golem naturally understands any language spoken to it, and can speak to animals and plants as a spring elf can. Natural golems feel and experience everything a normal flesh-and-blood human would in the same situation, and they can even taste, though if they eat their body merely dissolves whatever they eat magically into their form. [Non-Organic Golem] Strength of Gaia: Non-Organic Natural Golems and Constructed Golems are very similar in terms of raw strength. A Natural Golem is rated to lift and carry three thousand pounds without worry. Anything over this a natural golem can lift however, the Golem must roll 1d20 for each round it maintains the lift. Up to three thousand five hundred pounds they must get higher than a five. Up to four thousand pounds they much get higher than a ten. Up to four thousand five hundred they much get a fifteen. Anything greater than five thousand must get a twenty. If a natural Golem fails this roll they will suffer from material failure, this usually results in damage so catastrophic that it can kill the Golem; Examples of this failure are things such as a collapsed spinal column, severe joint failure, limb compression, and other sorts of nasty failures. A Natural Golem can not train its strength. [Organic Golem] Strength of Gaia: Organic Natural Golems can lift upwards of three thousand pounds at their peak, though they must train to reach this strength. Polyglot: Natural Golems understand all non-magical languages directed at them naturally, and can speak to plants and animals. A new language takes them one minute to learn (This is twelve emotes in roleplay). Unusual Form and Composition: Natural Golems choose what shape they desire their body to be themselves, usually with little to no outside influence whatsoever. This results in many odd forms for their bodies, sometimes humanoid, sometimes mimicking animals or insects they have observed. A golem must choose a form at creation, which can be altered when they use their regeneration ability. [Non-Organic Golem] Regeneration: A Non-Organic Natural Golem, by consuming material of the same sort of its body, can heal itself. [Organic Golem] Regeneration: An Organic Natural Golem can heal itself from anything aside from damage to its core in a fairly rapid period of time. If a golem is allowed to sit inert for ten rounds, they will be fully operational at the end of those ten rounds, regardless of the injury. As long as the core is intact an Organic Natural Golem can regrow itself. Slowness of the Behemoth: (This only effects golems made of materials of equal or greater hardness than metal/stone): As a result of this creature’s massive weight, their mobility and speed are reduced greatly. They may not dash (do nothing else but run in exchange for being able to move twice their movespeed), and will struggle to dodge attacks, given their heavy weight. They also gain a -3 penalty when defending from ranged weapon rolls, given their low mobility. Even turning to face their opponents is a long, arduous process, so these creatures may be easily outmaneuvered by good footwork, should their opponents be given an open field in which to do so and be skilled enough. See Cold Resistance.Redlines
Natural Golems are not any more durable than the material they are made of normally is, and can be hacked or bashed apart. Though event golems may grow up to 30 feet tall, player golems can only grow up to nine feet, at the extreme outside. The core of a natural golem, if destroyed, instantly kills the golem. This core glows brightly, and is about a foot, or 30 centimeters in diameter, and thus its location can usually be deduced. This core is as durable as quartz. The Regeneration of a natural golem takes one hour per 25% of its body that it regenerates, though event golems can regenerate much faster. It takes four full hours to change your shape with this ability, though you cannot change your form to be made of a different material, nor more than a foot taller or shorter than their original form. You cannot retroactively understand something said in a language you are learning through polyglot. I.e you can't understand what was said before it becomes a language you know. If a golem's core is removed from its body, it instantly perishes. At least 33% of the core's surface must be in contact with the body, of which at least 4kg must also remain. Remember, for the Slowness of the Behemoth, that we abide by an honor crp system, and that these rules (apart from not being allowed to dash and the -3 penalty) are merely guidelines, rather than the enforced truths. Ultimately, do what makes sense for your character to be able to do in specific scenarios, but do remember that if they are a massive, heavy golem, they will be easily outmaneuvered by much faster and lighter creatures, and to not take this into account is powergaming.Creation
Occasionally, pulses of energy travel through the ley-lines wrapping the world like the hearbeat of Gaia itself, sending a bubble of intense energy which travels through the world, just under its surface. When one of these pulses reaches a wellspring, the end of one of these ley-lines, it usually expresses itself with a blast of pure magical energy, which grounds itself in a nearby object. Any nearby object, really. Given enough time, this object will realize that it is, in fact, alive and in control of its form, it usually sheds the materials it finds unnecessary, choosing a form which pleases it. This can result in a myriad of forms, depending on the desires and surroundings of the golem. The Mind of a Golem
Natural Golems are free spirits in the most pure sense of the word, and they are completely different from any living species on the face of Gaia. With their ability to automatically understand language, they have no need to spend a long time with a culture to meet and understand them, and they frequently move from place to place, meeting many people as they go and picking up interesting things and traits as they go. Natural Golems are entirely created by themselves, from choosing exactly what their form will look like, to deciding exactly what cultures and ideas they like and want to adopt, and this leads them to having an extremely varied range of mindsets. It is sometimes said that natural golems are how Gaia experiences itself.History
Natural golems are fairly rare, and have little reason to commit themselves to any particular nations. Thus, they rarely make it into the history books of the various nations. The major exception to this is the Spring Elves, who love and revere the natural golems like no other species does. It is well known that there are enclaves of Natural Golems in most Spring Elf cities in the Old World, and these natural golems have, on multiple occasions, defended the Spring Elves who host them from the incursions of enemy armies.
