Halfbloods
(Halfblooded are a CA race, and may not be played without making an application.) The Halfblooded are the most common form of demonic offspring (Blooded), and they do not come from any specific sort of demon. Generally speaking, the taint in one of the Halfblooded is not extremely strong, and they are the most common type of offspring to end up as normal, well-adjusted people for this. Typically they are the result of minor demonic presence while a child is in the womb, or are several generations removed from a more directly demonically influenced person. Either way, physically, Halflooded typically carry some odd traits due to their heritage. Halfblooded make up about half of all demonic offspring.
Appearance
Halfblooded are typically very tall and healthy individuals, with either very pale skin, or skin which is more tan or dark than what their parentage might suggest. They almost always have a pair of curved horns jutting from above their brow, though when they’re born these frequently have not even begun to show themselves. Sometimes, they have even more demonic characteristics, such as slitted pupils, tails, forked tongues, curious, inhuman hands or feet, or even stubby, vestigial wings.Body Modifications
In order to hide their heritage better, many of them will file down their horns, clip their ears, or sever vestigial wings or tails. Though filing horns is no more painful than clipping nails, the rest of the listed procedures are less kind to their subjects.Racial Abilities
Halfbloods have the racial abilities of their base species, except as noted here. Infernal Constitution: Halfbloods are not subject to any disease, with the exception of magical ones. Demonic Heritage: All Halfbloods carry horns, though their size greatly varies See Cold Resistance. Halfbloods corrupt the world around them. See Corruption & Purification.Demonic Trait
Choose one of the following abilities: Prehensile Tail: You have a tail, which can be used as an extra limb! It can hold objects, and has the same strength as one of your own limbs. It also makes you far better at balancing! Cateyes: You are capable of seeing without penalty in any sort of light. Claws: Your hands and forearms have special sheathed claws between their knuckles, generally about 1% of a person's total height in length. Hooves: You have hooves instead of feet! Your block speed increases by one!Redlines
The definition of a "Magical Disease" is in some part up to the Event Host inflicting it. Regular food-borne illness and normal diseases should not fall under this category, however any disease inflicted by a Truth should. Beyond these general guidelines, however, it is up to the Host, or a lore team member should one be needed. Your prehensile tail, if you choose that trait, should be somewhat clumsy, capable of more simple movements, such as swinging a weapon or holding onto something, but more delicate actions, like performing surgery or picking a lock would be far beyond its capabilities. If you choose to have cateyes or claws, these are both extremely obvious, requiring gloves or smoked glass eyeglasses to conceal.History
Halfblooded, in many ways, have been a dirty little secret throughout most of history. If they were born into a notable family, their existence would almost always be hidden. If a halfblood participated in civil society for most of history, they, too, would hide their own heritage. It is only in the past few centuries in which the true origin of the Halfblooded has been known, and more of them have begun popping up without hiding their heritage. It is quite possible that more Halfblooded will become part of Gaian history on the continent of Anoma.Naming Traditions
Other names
The naming conventions of the Halfblooded almost always follows the species they are mimicking, though in some cases they will be given demeaning names to accentuate their tainted heritage, instead of the name one of their kind would normally have.
Culture
Culture and cultural heritage
Halfblooded do not have their own countries, nor do they have their own specific cultures, instead being born into the families of any other species.
Halfblooded speak the language of their home and Common.
Religion
The Halfblooded do not have their own religion, though most religions have a stance on the Halfblooded and demonkind in general. It is widely accepted that their souls are stained, and that when they perish, their souls are taken and repurposed specifically by demons rather than being sent to Mevvet or the Hoard like the souls of anyone else, and this has led to no small amount of stigma in many churches. Though they're not typically outright hostile towards the Halfblooded, it is not exactly unusual for them to become scapegoats in times of trouble, and many a devout follower has attempted to figure a ritual to "purify" them in a way more permanent than the Order of Purification might like.Family
The family structure of a Halfblooded will likely define its life. Whether its family tosses it out, abuses it, or showers it with love greatly effects how they will turn out, with proclamations that they have birthed a monster frequently becoming self-fulfilling prophecies.Common Dress code
Halfblooded typically wear whatever clothing that the culture they came from would normally wear, but usually modified for their unusual characteristics. Halfblooded, because of their horns, frequently don't wear hats.
Accessories
Many Halfblooded do their very best to hide their demonic characteristics as best they can, filing down their horns and wearing a hat, wearing smoked glass eyeglasses to hide their pupils, and wearing gloves to hide any claws or unusual hands they might sport. Beyond this, they tend to favor whatever accessories their parent culture would.Common Myths and Legends
Creation Story
Halfblooded come from all sorts of backgrounds, and for all sorts of reasons. Long ago it was thought that the only way for them to come into being was through direct copulation with a demon, an act rightly reviled by all civilized folk, but the truth is significantly more complex. The reality is that demons themselves seem to have a corrupting influence on the mortal plane, generating natural disasters and wearing down the very fabric of reality for miles around them. This has a variety of terrible effects, but the most frequent is the corrupting of children in the womb. Sometimes, this directly results in a Halfblooded child being born later on, while other times the stain is not quite so visible, and it will only begin to show up when the seemingly normal child goes on to have children of their own. It can hide in a bloodline for generations before popping up, and once this became more widely known the Halfblooded became somewhat more accepted. This is not to say that they are widely accepted and well loved, but the rate at which they would be left in the wilderness for the wolves has gone way down.Major organizations
The Halfblooded currently have no settlements on Anoma, nor any in the Old World. Perhaps you can change this...
