Nadir

Nadir are said to be the remains of restless spirits who were unable to leave the mortal coil and ascend to the realm of Tarn, the Cosmic Weaver. The faith of Tarn outlines very specific set of Humans/ Kith that must be followed when a person dies. This includes ensuring the person is left face up under the sky for three days before burial. Then the procession typically invites the loved one’s to surround their body and commence singing the funeral note. This is too encourage the soul to ascend to Tarn’s realm and take their place amongst the stars. Legend says that if this is not done a soul can become confused and instead may travel downwards becoming trapped to wander the mortal plane forever in a state of disturbed peace. To burn a body is the greatest taboo as this almost destroys any chance of the person reaching Tarn’s realm.   It is said that the bodies of the dead that are disrespected and not allowed to ascend may have their soul trapped inside them. This soul will then rot the body from the inside out until it become a fetid entity. The despair of such causes the soul to inhabit and puppet the body roaming aimlessly in search of relief, that comes from devouring others. They are said to sweep through out the land decaying crops and poisoning wells. They are attracted to anywhere that has people they cannot speak nor emote but cast around them a deep wash of despair often parroting a warbled and cracked version of the funeral note. Nadir are said to be most active during a fingernail moon when the light is low. They can be observed from a distance aimlessly shambling around. If you see a nadir you must leave the area as quickly as possible as staring at them too long can make one overpowered with desolation destroying and paralysed by destroying their will to run away. A nadir has a long spindly middle finagle skinny but sharpened to a point be approach their paralysed victims and jab their fingers into the victims temples. If a nadir touches someone their life will be drained from them, but even if they escape they will be overcome with unbearable sickness.   Nadir cannot appear during the day only the evening when when the moon is at its thinnest, The are not fast and can be easily evaded provided you do not stare. If a Nadir is avoided until the sun rises they will disappear until the next moon phase. There are said to be a number of ways to halt or paralyse a nadir, its said that they cannot cross running water nor cross through fire. If you drop coins on the ground its said this will distract a nadir as they will pick it up and count it, they will also stop to pick up grains or rice or oats. There is no confirmed way to set a nadir to rest but many theories suggest sorrounding them with light, setting their bodies to rest by turning them face up under the night sky and singing the funeral note.   Nadir appear as silver glowing entities with blue cores that pulse in time with the heartbeat of those around them, they shamble across the land as if boneless and puppeted, they lack faces and most of their identifying marks they had when they were alive. They often are seem moving sporadically and twitching their limb as if they have forgotten to move their bodies.
