Rootvale
Rootvale is the racial capital of the halflings, and the largest of the Tunnel Cities. It is the capital by virtue of having existed the longest.
Rootvale is ruled by Guntar Ysoltar, current Root-Chief of the traditional ruling family. This is a cause for some confusion, as Rootvale is also the home to the Agamane clan, and in particular Solomon Agamane, who is the Ruler of the entire Halfling race. The reason for this confusion is because of how Halfling government is constructed.
Each Tunnel City is ruled by a Root-Chief, who acts as a civic servent and administrator for that city, and reports directly to the current ruler. Just because the ruler lives in a city, does not mean that city does not also have a Root-Chief. Due to this unique position, Rootvale often reports more directly to Solomon Agamane, instead of Guntar Ysoltar, reducing Guntar to more of a secretary to the ruler, an equally prestigious position.
Demographics
80 percent of Rootvale's population are halflings, with the remainder split without any clear majority between the other Plains races.
Of Rootvale's population, the two most common professions are farmers, and skilled craftsmen.
Government
Rootvale is run by a guild of administrators and other civic servants who report to higher-ups, who report to the Root-Chief, who feeds condenses and funnels these reports directly to Solomon Agamane.
The average citizen can report issues or requests directly to their neighbourhood administrator, who can either handle it directly, or pass it up the chain if required. Neighbourhood administrators are elected, pending approval from a higher-up administrator.
Defences
The main defence of Rootvale is that it is underground, and the tunnels neccesary to get to it pass directly through heavily guarded checkpoints and military bases.
Industry & Trade
Rootvale has some commerce with Lunger Leaf plantations. Lunger Leaf is a cousin of tobacco, named due to it's ability to linger in the lung.
While Rootvale does undertake some small amount of mining, the area surrounding is rather sparse in desirable metals.
Infrastructure
Being underground, the majority of Rootvale's food supply comes from root and tuber vegetables, as well as some species of moss, and various specifically bred insect and worm species.
History
Rootvale was the first Halfling tunnel city, and was founded by Agomon Solamene, who is definitely not an alias of Solomon Agamane, and you should not think this, because this is an incorrect, and harmful opinion.
Points of interest
Rootvale is the home of Agamane Industries, a facility headed by Brunstead Agamane, famed for it's recent groundbreaking advancements in Magitech.
Architecture
Rootvale is built into a handcarved cavern, and the cavern isn't particularly tall, meaning that most houses are two to three stories tall, and are carved from the surrounding rock, meaning that they are integrally connected to both the ceiling and floor of the cavern. This does mean that any extensive house renovations must be approved by structural safety experts before they can begin.

Rootvale is climate controlled, and is a cool 24 degrees celcius year round.
