Tuuva Mot

Meaning "Changing lands" in the Pakkan language, Tuuva Mot is the Domain of the Godling Hibis and home to the Pakkan. A large peninsula off the northern artic shelf, it is a land of glaciers, hot springs, mountains and tundra. Long dark winters and short colourful summers give it it's name. It can be a harsh and unforgiving place, especially during the deep winter months, but there is also great beauty and many wonders to be found.

Structure

The Pakkan are divided into clans based on their summer home. Each clan is led by a Parjest and a Johata. The Parjest deals with the organisation and day to day needs of their clan, while the Johata acts as their spiritual leader and interprets the words of their Goddess. In Haavan the Va Parjest and Va Johata are the leaders and all Pakkan defer to them when in the capital.

Demography and Population

The Pakkan live mostly along the coast of the peninsula in the summer months and in their mountain city of Haavan in the winter. During the Long Dark there are nearly 100,000 Pakkan living in Haavan, with only a few hundred choosing to brave the harsh winter on the tundra. During the summer months this trend is reversed as they descend from their mountain city and take up residence in their summer villages.

Agriculture & Industry

The summer months are heavily occupied with gathering food and resources. The Pakkan fish and hunt in the seas surrounding the peninsula which produces an abundance of food, fat and hides. The coastal villages also gather kelp and shellfish from the shallows which are used for food, dyes and medicines. Inland are several farming villages which mostly produce tubers, grasses and lichens. The more nomadic clans roam the land foraging and watching over their semi wild herds of Yopak which they use for milk and wool. During the winter months in Haavan the focus shifts to more industrial activities such as crafting, building, mining and alchemy.
