Session 070: Adamant

We open with Mohr, tangled in black tentacles as Onoana whips out from behind a wall within the labyrinth of tunnels. The tentacles expand hungrily from a crack in reality, but a timely bit of damage causes Onoana to lose concentration on them. She retreats down the tunnel with the party in pursuit.   The party follows Onoana into a vast cavern, the stone floor abruptly falling away into deep, clear water interrupted by stepping stones. Waterfalls tumble into the pool, creating a ripple that makes it difficult to determine just how far deep water goes. In the center of the cavern lies a massive anvil, carved with brightly glowing runes, all centered around what appears to be a carving of a mountain on its side. Add to the blue light are three humanoid statues towering around the perimeter of the space, each with a brazier of cerulean fire at its feet. To the left, an insectoid figure with wings, antennae, and mandibles that appear at odds with its neat bun and elaborate robes. Straight ahead, a badger-like figure with shaggy fur, pointed ears, and a heavy collar framing a sigil on its chest. To the right, a cervine figure with curling antlers the same blank gaze as its fellows.   Moa reveals herself as the party follows Onoana into the cavern and the battle commences in earnest. Moa alternates between healing spells for Onoana and devastating blasts of radiant energy. Onoana spins spells that crackle with a magic that calls to rifts in reality and inky blackness.   Zenith takes a chance and places his rapier on the anvil. The anvil flashes and fire blooms out form each of the braziers, catching both Moa and a polymorphed Talasea. Zenith walks away from the anvil with a superheated weapon.   Verity goes to throw a dagger and instead throws a bolt of crackling energy not unlike Onoana's. Given that he had not previously had any magic that he knew of, this is somewhat alarming. Later, he disappears, sucked through a rift in reality, only to crackle back into existence six seconds later looking extremely confused.   As the fight begins to tilt in the party's favor, Onoana throws a hand out towards Moa, shouting her name. When Moa cannot escape Talasea's grapple, Onoana teleports away without her. Moa is left to fall unconscious beneath a dubiously non-lethal blow.   The party remains with Moa in their grasp and Onoana nowhere to be seen.
