The Bog Hag
Mental characteristics
Personal history
The Bog Hag was originally a green hag.
Accomplishments & Achievements
The Bog Hag views her work for the Prince of Frost one of her finest achievements. By keeping him locked in his current persona, he continues to spread misery and destroy love and hope across hundreds of worlds. For her to betray this creation, she would have to be offered an opportunity to create something even more devastating.
The great bog where she lairs is a demiplane of deadly hazards. A being can safely reach its heart by drowning an innocent child in a pool of stagnant water at twilight, when neither moon nor sun are in the sky, revealing a clear path through the bog. Thus does she learn critical information about anyone who reaches her. Those willing to make the sacrifice are capable of causing pain and misery. Those who survive the deadly nature of the bog are powerful and capable, but also possibly weakened.
Mental Trauma
Anathema
When the Bog Hag was still a green hag, she fell in real love with a simple human woodsman. She killed him rather than be subject to what she perceived as a disgusting weakness, and having done so, shed a single tear. She preserved it in amber, shaped like a tear, and carried it for a time. Before long, she cast it away as a useless memento of her weakness, but later cursed herself for not having destroyed it. She doesn't know where it is now, and the fear that someday she will encounter it again has become so deeply-rooted it is beyond neurosis. She would give almost anything to recover it, but once she did could bear neither to be near it nor to have it destroyed, and she would only cast it away once again.
Intellectual Characteristics
Devious and quick-witted, the Bog Hag has exceptional insight and a finely-honed ability to assess an individual's motives and morality. The Bog Hag usually presents a false persona that is rational and neutral, claiming that the millennia have shown her the insignificance and futility of selfishness.
Morality & Philosophy
Duplicity and cruelty are the Bog Hag's heart and soul. She has no morals and no compunctions. The constant change inherent in the multiverse has convinced her that personal gratification is the only meaningful pursuit.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
The Bog Hag is driven to spread misery. She views the curse as the highest art, and seeks to craft the most malevolently elegant sources of despair the multiverse has ever seen.
