Turspan Slightlands
Geography
This land is a largely flat coastal plain, with some rolling rocky hills and exposed cliff faces. Foliage alternates between open plains and sparse deciduous woods that grow denser around waterways. It has a winding western coast with many rocky hills, islands, and cliffs at its edge, and to the north borders coral reefs. The spaces between the rocky hills feature streams and rivers, which lead downhill towards the ocean. Rarely, these streams and rivers instead lead to lakes and holes in the earth, vanishing thereafter. The woodlands grow denser and more like forests towards the south.
Ecosystem
The Tursp Slightlands have a mild, Mediterranean climate, which supports year-round crop harvests and native fruit trees. The harvests, hunts, and forage are all plentiful here.
Fauna & Flora
Boars, bears, lions, elk, turkeys, demon turkeys, cats, wolves, basilisks, goats, and eagles are all common native fauna in the area. At night, there is an entirely different range of creatures that emerge, most of them predatory, and many of them extremely dangerous.
Natural Resources
The Tursp Slightlands are superb farmland with abundant natural wood and stone. The natives trade for tool metals and other natural resources.
History
The Tursp Slightlands were named for Turspia, an ancient civilization that once spread throughout the area that fell to an unknown calamity. As a middle ground between the Track of the Sun and the Limelands, it is called the Slightlands.
Tourism
People primarily come to the Tursp Slightlands either via Starring to trade, or on pilgrimage to Oxos' center of learning. The Prism Forest attracts attention for its great natural beauty, but it is protected from trespassers by its own dangers. Notably, there are private villas built around the Golden Ocean's coast, typically on hills.
