The Terminal Elements

Just as there are seven The Primordial Elements which form the foundation for creation, there are seven Terminal Elements which form the foundation for destruction. These elements of the end are often regarded as the shadows of the primordial elements, and each represents the absence of a primordial element. The terminal elements are believed to be the following.
  • Dust, the shadow of Stone
  • Vapor, the shadow of Water
  • Cold, the shadow of Heat
  • Void, the shadow of Ether
  • Murk, the shadow of Light
  • Blur, the shadow of Darkness
  • Stasis, the shadow of Force
The terminal elements each represent the absence of their respective primordial element. For this reason, some believe that they are not elements at all, for they can only be defined by what is not there. The terminal elements represent the second half of existence, as its journey through time ebbs it closer to its end. It is said that when all seven terminal elements come together, Nothing remains.   However, that isn't to say that the terminal elements are unnecessary. Without the absence that the terminal elements provide, there would be no place for life to exist. The world would be too hot, too dense, too wet, too expansive, too brilliant, too defined, and moving much too fast if it were not for their presence. Thus, these elements of inexistence are honored, though they may not be beloved so much as their primordial counterparts.
