Portaliths
When it comes to transportation in Folia, a few things come to mind. Caravans, for transporting goods across the land. Ships, for forging across the Golden Ocean. The Aurora Train, for traveling among the moons and stars. And portaliths, for reaching faraway places in mere minutes.
Portaliths are large standalone incredibly dense and heavy formations of enchanted stone or crystal, which allow for a proficient wielder of magic to transport themselves directly to its side. While many portaliths appear similar, each has a unique makeup and enchantment that must be understood in order to transport oneself to it.
Using the Teleportation Circle, Word of Recall, Teleport, or Plane Shift spells (or similar magic) allows one to transport themselves to the side of a portalith you have attuned to in the nearest unoccupied space available. You must spend 1 minute in contact with the portalith to attune to it. It's possible to be transported to a portalith you are unfamiliar with by using another being's guidance, such as the caster of the spell you are sharing, a deity, or a Soulcatcher. In the event that one attempts to teleport to a portalith that doesn't exist or encounters a mishap along the way that disrupts their path, they will be trapped in a state of formlessness in Nowhere until they either wander near to another portalith, or a Soulcatcher rescues them.
Portaliths are one-way anchors for teleportation, and can only be used to teleport to portalith shards that were removed from the original and are still within its range. Larger portaliths are more capable of having more shards.
Portaliths work as an anchor using the power of Stone. Their density is broadcast into Nowhere and the underworld using the enchantments placed upon them, and when a creature which has been made formless by teleportation magics comes near, it shares the power of Stone with them to restore them to form.
Creating a portalith requires significant time and expertise in teleportation magicks, but doing so allows one to impose custom enchantments or restrictions on the stone. Enchantments like a forbiddance to certain types of creatures, security limitations only allowing a select few to access the portalith, or even a spell to mimic the attunement properties of another portalith and thereby redirect creatures from another portalith to yours are possible.
