A lesser Seolfor, Rene was created without freewill but gained it at the time of his master Farouk's rebellion against Alabaster. Rene chose to worship Alabaster and reject Farouk. He was one of the first visitors to Stonesage where he lived with Raphael and Enora, who helped him understand his new role in the heavens. When worlds were created, Alabaster gave him Hanya as a wife and set them as guardians and protectors of innumerable worlds and dimensions, among them, Flamesend. Spoilers for the Portal Report Series.

Hanya is imprisoned by Farouk in the mirrorworld for over a thousand years and nothing Rene did could free her. It was not until the arrival of Henry Ackers during the course of the Portal Report Series that the mirrorworld could be broken and Hanya freed.
