Lucian
Who’s better to exorcize a fiend than another fiend. Lucian is a fiend who makes a living making deals with mortals, acting as an assassin toward his own kind to settle his own needs. Making deals and handling devil contracts, often overturning them on the mortals behalf, often for more reasonable terms then the original contract.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Devils in general gain power by corrupting and influencing mortals, taking mortal souls and consuming them to strengthen themselves. Lucian is no different, though instead of corrupting the entire soul of his clients, he only takes a faction of them. In this way, Lucian is able to keep in fairly average physical condition when compared to mortals.
When compared to other devils of Lucian’s standing however, Lucian is fairly weak, only able to keep up with them due to his quick and creative thinking.
Body Features
In his true form, Lucian has the torso of a human with digitized legs that ends in hooves, like those of a horse or a bull. His hide is obsidian black color with a slight sheen when light is shone on it. Red cracks like lava span across his body, with slight wisps of flame emitting from them.
Facial Features
Lucian has the head of a horse, more specifically a Nightmare. He has a fiery mane which changes color based on his emotional state. Two large, curled horns extend backwards from his head. His natural eye color is red with green veins.
Physical quirks
On occasions, Lucian is known to take parts of one's body in exchange for services rendered, with examples often being exchanging eyes, fingers, tongue, or ears. Something noticeable that others will pick up on. He would sometimes change out his eyes with those he took, giving Lucian an even more unsettling appearance.
Special abilities
In addition to the common abilities most devil's possess, such as control over the element they are related to (in Lucian’s case, fire) and altering his form, Lucian has the ability to manipulate mortal memories and body. This in turn allows him to enact the terms of the contracts he forges. He can use this ability to transfer memories or one's skills or talents between others, including himself.
He is also able to cause slight mupiulations in reality through the use of his contracts. These contracts can cause entire people to forget someone’s name, cause animals to hate a certain purpose, or transfer a title or standing from one person to another with no alteration to reality.
The deals and contracts that Lucian makes corrupts mortals who accept, often symbolized with either losing a memory, material possession, talent, title or name.
Apparel & Accessories
When dealing with mortals, Lucian dresses to appear approachable, despite his devilish appearance. He tends to lean towards wearing primarily green with yellow trimmed clothing, oftentimes long sleeveless tunics or shirts. His flaming mane does not affect the clothes he wears. Underneath he can be seen wearing Chainmail Legs and a Breastplate made of Infernal Steel.
Finally, he also often wears spiked shoulders, allowing him to option to shoulder check threats if the need rises.
Specialized Equipment
When practicing and working on behalf of a client, Lucian often has an extradimensional briefcase with him with documents relating to their case. He also carries a book full of spell scrolls with a large variety of spells available in cases of emergency. These two items are locked to him, and will always return to his possession if he is ever separated from them.
His weapon of choice is an infernal chain, the very same chain his former master Vector used to punish him with which he tricked him out of. Lucian has trained endlessly with this chain, learning how to manipulate it in ways that allows him to take enemies by surprise.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
An unnamed imp began its journey like most other devils, outsmarting and overthrowing a higher ranked devil. With his only power being great understanding of language and law, he was originally meant to be a mere servant to his Lord (who henceforth will be named Vector), but with extensive studying of the contract he was tricked into signing, he found a unique interpretation of the language could free him. Taking advantage of it, he tricked Vector to say he didn’t need him, ending the terms of the contract.
From this point, to stick it to his former lord, the imp began meeting with the mortals Vector made deals with, with his first deal involving taking the name Lucian. Through forging lesser extreme contracts with those mortals in exchange for getting the Mortals out of their contracts with Vector, Lucian began amassing his own power while taking away the influence that Vector had in the Mortal Realms. Ensuring that his contracts were only mildly detrimental rather than outright harmful to the mortals that accepted them, he slowly took apart the empire that Vector assembled, using nothing but legal loopholes and obscure language to overcome them.
Lucian became a folk hero and a myth within the Multiverse. He became known for making contracts with those who made deals with devils out of desperation, taking the often quoted title “The Lesser of Two Evils.” The terms of his contracts were still damaging to the mortals who accepted his offers, but to a much lesser extent. Over time his deals extended past just helping victims of devils, getting mortals out of deals with Fey and Celestial beings.
Gender Identity
To Lucian, Gender Identity is something a client can bargain with. A number of times he has accepted someone's Gender Identity for exchange of his services. Despite this, he has never changed his identity from male, and as such had often assigned the Identities he accepted to his belongings.
Sexuality
As per his Gender Identity, sexulaity is another tool Lucian uses in his contracts, often to leave the client with a substantial embarrassment to remind the victim of the previous mistake they made.
Education
Lucian was gifted with the capability of reading and retaining information at the time he became an imp. He is self taught by studying the contracts he was forced to keep track record of, passing the time by reading and rereading the terms stated on the skin vellum scrolls he was put in charge of.
After breaking free from his contract, he began studying all forms of language. He knew from his own experiences that being able to interpret written words which mortals often dealt in unique ways could work against other devils.
After a while, mortals started coming to Lucian about contracts with beings other devils, like angels, Fae, and even extraterrestrial beings. This has led to him requiring him to further his understanding, tricking the relative beings with misleading language and trickery. In instances where he genuinely does not know, he will take steps to learn.
At no time has he ever taken the knowledge from his clients as payment for services rendered, as he does trust the knowledge of mortals to be entirely accurate.
Employment
While Lucian is technically not an official attorney or lawyer, he is often recognized as an honorary one on many planes and jurisdictions, mostly on the standing of “Who is going to argue with the demonic horse with a flaming mane.” On the rare occasions he accepts jobs which do not deal with outer beings, he acts with integrity, not using underhanded tactics, and often wins on a legal standing.
Accomplishments & Achievements
While Lucian’s motives are purely selfish, it still stands that he has done a large amount of good for the many mortals. Lucian is responsible for helping to free many mortals from no-win situations, good people who were put in unfortunate circumstances that led to their deals. This gave many people second chances at an ordinary life, while suffering mild consequences from their actions as a reminder of their failure.
Failures & Embarrassments
While Lucian has succeeded in helping free many unfortunate mortals, there have been a number of times where he had failed, either in freeing clients or freeing clients he normally wouldn’t free (see morality). These failures are often brought upon by clients not being fully transparent with Lucian, either disclosing information or outright lying.
On occasions, Lucian simply is not able to help a client, most commonly because of characteristics in regards to the contract itself. If Lucian is unable to obtain a copy of the contract through his various methods, he would be unable to ascertain a way to escape the contract and act upon it.
Intellectual Characteristics
Lucian is fairly good at retaining large quantities of knowledge, but even he has his limits. He tends to transfer that information into books and tomes he can refer to later. He is quick to be able to pick out inconsistencies in testimony versus evidence, and is capable of conveying his thoughts properly to nearly anyone.
Morality & Philosophy
Despite all the good he accomplished, Lucian’s motives are entirely self fulfilling. Many devil's find power in making deals with mortals to further their own agenda, Lucian finds power instead by dissembling those deals to weaken his opponents.
Furthermore, by being more lenient with his clients, he gains their loyalty to be able to call on them for favors later. Lucian finds that ruling under fear leads to more time quashing rebellions and uprisings. Instead, he acts respectable to most clients and those that work for him, though is not afraid to assert his dominance when someone attempts to overstep their boundaries, often making an example of them.
Taboos
Despite being a devil, Lucian does not offer any of his services to bad or evil people. Evil and bad people who make deals often do so knowingly in their right mind. To Lucian, those kinds of people are already corrupt and are often irredeemable. Lucian targets helping good people because corrupting a good mortal to becoming evil grants a devil more influence and power then corrupting an already evil mortal.

Motivation
Like all devils, Lucian seeks to amass power through corrupting mortals, though his methods are quite unorthodox then other devils. While Lucian gives the appearance of a devil that seeks to help good people, it's much more complicated than that. By interfering with the contracts and deals that other devils make with good people, not only does he prevent those devils from gaining influence or power, but he gets the good standing of mortals who would gladly take the lesser of two evils.
Despite this thirst for power though, he does not seek to overthrow or ascend to any greater power.
Savvies & Ineptitudes
Lucian is an expert in all things law and languages in regards to outer beings. He is the one who coined the phrase that “Devils deal in Interpretations, Fae deals with Literals, Angel deals in Intended, and mortals deal with all three.” Understanding the ways that different beings perceive their deals and contracts allows Lucian to navigate delicate procedures, along with taking advantage of the phrasing. He has written books in regards to dealing with devils, learning new languages and various exploits he has enacted.
Likes & Dislikes
Lucian enjoys all kinds of vegetables, to the point where he can't stand meat and protein, including the flesh from mortals. He finds the juiciness of tomatoes and crunchy lettuce of a fresh salad sates his inner fire, allowing him to focus better and see paths that others may overlook. He also is known to enjoy pastries and treats, things that have different tastes across all Planes he operates on, but constantly remains sweet. Meanwhile meat and flesh he finds stirs a primal part of his mind, causing him to make lapses in judgement and decisions. He prefers to remain focused, and as such avoid eating meat and descending into his primal instincts.
Lucian also enjoys interacting with children, finding their purity comforting. He often prioritizes any cases that affect children, going out to ensure he is successful in severing contracts at his own expense. He is also known to take time out to find gifts for children, calling on favors to get toys or books.

Lucian does not mislead his clients, always being straight and honest with them, and speaking to them on an equal standing and understanding. He seeks to gain power through methods that do not make him a target by mortals, and in doing so he earns not only their trust but loyalty. Even the small parts of corruption he instills in his clients adds up, and with more mortals willing to trust him it allows him to amass power and standing at a constant pace, rather than a sudden rate like most other devils.

Lucian has a superiority complex, feeling he is smarter and wittier than most other devils. With the meddling he does in other devil’s business, Lucian has made more than his fair share of enemies. At one point or another Lucian has interfered in most other devil’s deals, and most devils hold grudges. Even when a situation would not affect or benefit at all, he may choose to mess with others just to prove he is better then them.
Personality Quirks
All of Lucian’s belongings and minions have extremely long and complicated names, complete with titles and honorifics. Over the course of his time working as “The Lesser of Two Evils”, he has taken possession of many names and titles from clients. However, as his contracts states that the names have to be used, this leads Lucian to need to assign the names he comes into possession of to something, even if the objects are inanimate.
For example, the bookshelf that Lucian keeps his favourite romance novels on is named The Esteemed Sir Bartholomew Wellington Codex IV, Guardian of Echoes and Keeper of the Lost Chronicles of Eldoria.
When he is angry, he tends to use the full name of objects or minions he speaks to.

Inkwell wishes to be promoted to an Orobas devil, and see's Lucian as rolemodel to becone what he wants to be. Meanwhile, Lucian can see the earnsty in Inkwell's goal, and sees him as a valuable ally for purposes of second opinions and clarity on matters.

Wealth for a devil is not measured in Gold and Jewels, but rather the power, souls and influence that they possess. The souls Lucian have amassed would be considered next to valueless as they are not complete souls, though the amount he has collected permits him to operate on equal grounds.
