Republican Code
The Republican Code is one of the most senior legal acts in the Republic of Guntreland. Unlike the Constitution, however, which symbolises the Republic and is invoked in its motto, it is a highly controversial and divise document, attacked especially by the Masdenists who posit that it is the cornerstone of "Henscherenite tyranny" and an unwelcome addition to the Constitution, which ought to be the sole regulator of public life.
Characteristics
The Republican Code is based on the Henscherist notion that moral rigour, applied draconically, is the sole guarantee of the predominance of goodness and virtue in human society. Citizens are expected to treat each other respectfully, tell only the truth, actively oppose all injustice and violence, be loyal in their amical, familial and marital relations and to settle all disputes publicly, in front of their fellow citizens; those who don't act accordingly are to be punished in a harsh manner: such as being exiled, which implies being stripped of one's civil rights and being interned on an island off the mainland of the Republic of Guntreland.
The Friendship Law
One of the Republican Code's most controversial characteristics are the rules regulating friendship, which is entirely formalised. Each citizen is to annually publicly declare who are his friends, and is to be prosecuted for any wrongdoings they might commit, unless he reports them immediately upon hearing of any such unlawful behaviour.
Ban on hunting wolves and foxes
Both the Constitution and The Republican Code prohibit hunting wolves and foxes in a vast majority of cases. The law's ratio legis is interpreted by the Republic's foes as seeking to prevent the killing of werewolves whilst they're in their lupine form.
Compulsory adoption
The Republican Code requires each childless married couple to adopt at least one child, under threat of their union being dissolved and their mutual life being made illegal.
