Reiner Kunze
Rainer Kunze is the regional Commander of Alvald in the Republic of Guntreland.
Biography
Kunze sent Hermann Henscher the Black List, comprised during the Kingdom when Kunze was a provincial lawyer, in which he accused a wide array of people of working against the Republic or using their privileges for 'immoral purposes' (usually abusing citizens). This earned him Henscher's respect and trust. His archenemy is Nicholas Laren.
Kunze is known for his love for the biologist Hannelore Agels and for his sympathies for animals. Once, when the isle of Alwald was still de-facto under the Old Regime, he reprimanded Count Theudbald Inberg and Nicholas Laren for hunting a fox, "beautiful animal they even don't intend to eat". However they responded by mocking him. He later described his courage to reprimand them with his willingness to die because Hannelore refused to speak with him.

Under the old regime there prevailed an obsolete notion: that to denounce was an act of cowardice, and that he who claimed to be a true man must defend his violated rights by the force of his own arm alone. Such is the insidious deceit of the old regime, whereby Virtue, Truth, and Justice were weighed by the prowess, the purse, or the influence of him who claimed them — and yet this deceit did not hinder the grandees and their hirelings from dispatching thousands of good patriots to the dungeons and the gallows by means of anonymous denunciations now forbidden by the Constitution of the Republic. The counterfeit morality of royalism is founded upon brute force alone; no other morality would lions themselves have devised. By Republican morality, to denounce — and to denounce openly, with the honest Citizen standing forth in his own name, pledging his Honour — is the highest virtue by which Man is transfigured into Citizen and Republican: Denunciator is, to the Republican, a title of honour.
