Zugzwang ([Zoog · svah · ng])
The Zugzwang is the former flagship of the Magma Guard's Defense Fleet before the commissioning of the Firebeak. This heavily-modified Starcutter-class Cruiser prioritizes its defensive capabilities and relies on its Battle Suit compliment for its operational success in skirmishes. As the favored capital ship of the Magma Guard's Feathermen, this passive engagement style is quite effective and has produced an admirable mission success rate in contrast to other ships of its class.
In addition to its enhanced Battle Suit compliment and potent defenses, the propulsion system boasts an additional Ketteract engine, allowing for relatively extreme high-g maneuvers for a capital ship, requiring a specially designed interior to ensure the safety of its crew. One notable modification towards this end is the almost excessive amount of Battlechems and injection sites located throughout the essential stations of the ship. Though not as potent as a Battle Suit's cocktail and lacking some notable side-effects, it is adequate in allowing personnel to maintain consciousness during maneuvers in excess of 5 G's.
