Far Seer

Perched on the rugged western coast northwest of Midpoint, Far Seer began as a simple outpost—a lookout station erected during the turbulent early wars of Cruentum. Its strategic position allowed sentinels to watch the waters for enemy ships, giving early warning to the settlements further inland. Though its military purpose has faded, Far Seer has since transformed into a tranquil furfoot hamlet, where life moves at the gentle pace of the rolling tides and grazing goats.

A Halfling Haven

Far Seer is a picturesque settlement, its small, burrow-like homes built into the grassy coastal hills. These snug dwellings, with their round doors and smoke curling from stone chimneys, blend seamlessly with the rocky, wind-swept landscape. Halfling families, drawn by the quiet and unspoiled beauty of the coast, have made this place their own—cultivating small gardens, tending goats, and enjoying a life removed from the busier trade hubs of Cruentum.

The rocky coastline offers ample grazing for goats, who roam freely among the cliffs and meadows. The hamlet has become known for its goat’s milk, cheeses, and wool, which are traded in small quantities to nearby Midpoint and South Port. The Far Seer Cream, a richly flavoured cheese, is a particular delicacy sought after by travellers and merchants alike.

A Watchful Legacy

Though peace now reigns, Far Seer’s history as a war lookout has not been forgotten. At the highest point of the hamlet stands the Old Watchtower, its weathered stone walls still sturdy against the coastal winds. While no longer manned by sentinels, the watchtower has been adopted by local halflings as a gathering spot for festivals, storytelling, and quiet reflection. Its lantern, once used to signal danger, is now lit ceremoniously during midsummer celebrations as a symbol of protection and peace.

Some adventurous halflings, inspired by tales of the past, climb the tower to gaze westward at the endless sea, imagining what might be beyond the horizon. It is said that on clear days, when the light hits just right, the faint silhouette of distant lands can be seen far across the water—a sight that gave Far Seer its name.

Life Along the Cliffs

The rhythm of life in Far Seer is dictated by the sea breeze and the gentle bleating of goats. Small fishing boats dot the rocky shoreline, casting nets for local catches that supplement the halfling diet. The rocky tide pools teem with shellfish, crabs, and seaweed, while the cliffs above provide breathtaking views of the Glass Sea stretching endlessly westward.

While Far Seer remains peaceful and idyllic, its isolation means the villagers rely on one another, fostering a tight-knit community where everyone has a role to play. Visitors are rare, though always welcomed warmly—especially with a seat at the table, a slice of Far Seer Cream, and a mug of local cider.

A Place of Peace

Far Seer is a humble, serene corner of Cruentum—a place where the weight of the world feels distant. Here, the grass grows thick on the coastal hills, goats graze contentedly, and the sunsets turn the waters of the Glass Sea into liquid gold. For its halfling residents, Far Seer is more than a home—it is a sanctuary, a place where one can live simply, laugh often, and watch the waves roll in, unbothered by the passage of time.
