Talents

Each Fairy Types comes with Inherited Powers. Of these powers, each fairy is born gifted at one. However, to properly utilize and become strong in their powers, a fairy must train. Through training and discovering what they’re truly passionate about, a fairy discovers their Talent, which will stem from their Inherited Power.

Talents are something a fairy truly specializes in, often related to their passions or hobbies.

Talent discovery is the first step in truly controlling your powers. For some, discovering their talent comes a lot easier to them than others. They may come to learn what they’re passionate about very early in their life, and dedicate the rest of it to honing certain skills. For others, talent discovery may take some time. Maybe some trial and error.

While still searching for one’s talent, fairies without one may struggle more with controlling their powers. The different facets of their inherited power may take them in all sorts of directions until they finally settle upon what truly calls to them.

Talents are typically set in stone upon discovery. A Talent is a fairy’s true calling, the thing they specialize in above all else. That’s why for many, it either comes easily or takes time and effort to figure out. Some may even discover they have a Talent that doesn’t speak to them at first, and must figure out why.

However, there are rare occasions where a fairy’s talent will change. This is a once in a lifetime discovery, and is usually a result of finding another truly important calling or specialty. Something so important, and something that speaks to the fairy so much, that their Talent shifts with it. This discovery has fundamentally changed them so much that so too has their Talent. 

Discovering One's Talent

As stated above, a fairy discovering their talent could either be the easiest, most seamless process in the world, or one that takes time and effort.

To make the process a little harder, but with more avenues for character exploration and roleplay, there are also different levels of rarity when it comes to fairy talents. These are:

• Common
• Uncommon
• Requires reaching Level 5 within the server
• Rare
• Requires reaching Level 10 within the server
• Ultra Rare
• Requires reaching Level 20 within the server

All fairies will have access to common talents. However, for the other categories, those will require leveling up within the server. Our leveling system is based on participation, whether through discussion, art, or roleplay. Shouldn't be too hard!

Upon reaching the necessary levels, your fairy will then be able to acquire talents within that category. This make it so your fairy has to go on their own journey of discovery in order to accomplish a given talent! All while you do the work in leveling up through server participation. ;D

While your fairy (and yourself) are working towards those talents, your fairy will have not discovered their talent yet, and are still on a journey of finding something that sticks. However, you can list that your fairy is aspiring towards a certain talent, or is still undecided.

Creating Your Own Talents

Please take a gander through Talents to see all the available talents that we've come up with for you. However, if none of these stick out to you, and you're itching for something different or a bit more specific, we welcome you creating your own talents for your fairy!

But before you get carried away, we have just a bit of rules!

Rules:

1. Any talent that you come up with must be run by and approved by the Alpha Fairies. Never hesitate to reach out or walk us through the brainstorming process!
2. Talents created by members will automatically fall into the uncommon category, and thus you will need to be Level 5 to properly utilize the talent. For especially powerful talents, we may even categorize it as rare, and will require reaching Level 10 instead.
3. All talents must still stem from the inherited power. Try to make sure there's still a solid enough connection between the power and the talent.
4. Please try not to get too overpowered with it! These talents should still remain a bit focused. Nothing like "he can control lava and shoot balls of fire and burn fairies alive with a single touch while also controlling the volcanos eruption!"
5. Talents will not combine more than one inherited power. So nothing that merges the ability to communicate with animals while also being able to manipulate plants. Those have to remain separate.
6. Talents do not have to be inherently elemental. Some may even be something like 'Cooking' or 'Baking' Talents, and how your fairy harnesses their power to carry out these activities is up to you! (For examples of this, see Miscellaneous Talents.)
8. There is also a lot of room for creativity when it comes to Hybrids and their talents! Their talents should manifest as a combination of the inherited powers of their parents. (While their parents talents may influence them, it should be based on one of the three inherited powers. Or in this case two. One from each parent!) If it helps, fairy Talents are akin to the talents, of the same name, from Tinker Bell, or cutie marks from My Little Pony. They are your fairy's true calling and they may be called to something they never would have considered.
