Cullfield

Situated on the Trade Way five days north of Dragonspear Castle is the quant trading town of Cullfield. founded in the mid 12th century DR this town is one of the last stops on the Trade Way, and settled just in on the edge of the Misty Forest. It primarily exports grain, wine, whale bone (don't ask), and ancient secrets and artifacts from the nearby High Moor. The town imports metals, medicine, and Adventurers. The self styled lord of Cullfield is 'Lord' Tomas Dexson

The town is situated just twelve miles from the High Moor. This has necessitated a town wall and well trained town guard. The town is surrounded by a large wall constructed out of wood and built on a foundation of cobblestone. This wall is usually enough to deter most brigands and weak monsters like goblins. Some stronger beasts like trolls, orcs, ogres, and Ettins are harder to deter with a simple palisade. This has lead to the town guard to be outfitted like mercenaries and they are almost comparable to the Waterdeep City Guard in terms of armament and effectiveness.

A wide verity of shops and businesses can be found in Cullfield. The central gathering point of the town is The Laughing Dwarf. A place that can be liberally described as a tavern, but is best described as a old ruin that someone has poured cheap ale into. The only other large establishment of alcoholic endeavors is the The Black Dog. A poorly managed mess of a rickety five story building named after 'Lord' Tomas Dexson's childhood dog. Dexson is also the owner and founder of the tavern, he founded it after seeing the sorry state of The Laughing Dwarf. One more tavern exists The Shadowy Dragon, a small tavern on the edge of town people drink at when they want some quiet in a busy day.

Other non alcoholic businesses are Town Books and Nolege (yes it is misspeled) a book store slash public library also founded by Dexson. The Lucky Hammer a bar that was renovated into a forge, this was due to the bar being shut down due to stirge infestation in the basement. Geoffrey Mauler a retired adventurer offered to remove them in exchange for him being able to turn the building into a forge. Then there is the miscellaneous businesses like Spella's Pottery, Hethbart's Meats, Lorazenya's Fruit and Herbs. Then there is graveyard run by the earth genasi priest of Selûne Flint, allong with his temple in the town square. It may be dedicated to Selûne but he allows all worshippers to use it for services.

A small economy has formed over the bands of adventurers who come to town as a stepping stone to the High Moor. An inn named the The Leaping Demon was founded by Gynuri, a half-orc retired guardswoman, and caters to adventurers staying in town. The Uneasy Beaker, run by the gnomish alchemist Wilxim Omplel, sells potions and cures to the townsfolk and adventurers alike.

There is the multiple guides that take tourists through the forest to the The pillar of Carcharodon. The ancient ashes of an astronomy tower loom over the forest and town below. The people of Cullfield consider the ruins slightly ominous and creepy but safe and deserted, if they did not then the prospecting tourist would have to guide themselves to it.
