This scenario is the first scene from the Fiend of the Forest Adventure presented as a Freeblades Scenario
Fiend of the Forest Scene 1 - Wagon Ambush
Plot | Jul 2, 2020
Encounter Area: 4’x4’ Table   Terrain: See Encounter Map. There should be a destroyed wagon in the center of the encounter area. The wagon is Masking and Rough.   Clues: The two sides alternate placing three clue features each within 9” of the wagon and not within 6” of another clue feature. Clue features should be bodies of guards, dead horses or debris from the wagon.   Objective: There are no Objectives in this scenario.   Deployment: Standard, see Standard Scenario Deployment Rules.   Deployment Zone: within 9” of player’s home edge   Special Rules:
The Clues. A model may make a Find test 4 as a special action in contact with a clue feature and if it passes it gains a Clue Marker (CM). CMs act in the same way as Loot Markers except they do not represent items or gold, they represent important clues as to the whereabouts of Sir Keflan’s daughters.
The Beast. On turn three, in the Events Phase, place a Grush on the center line and in contact with one of the two edges of the encounter area, determined randomly. Face the Grush toward the center of the encounter area. The Grush is last player on turn three and operates according to the NPC rules if not played by a live player. The Grush tests for initiative normally after turn three.

  • Only one side with an unbroken freeband remains or all freebands are broken.
  • The time limit has been reached.
  • One side has removed 3 or more CMs from play.
Winner:   1. The side that removed or is in possession of the most CMs is the winner.   2. If no side has removed or is in possession of the most CMs and only one side with an unbroken freeband remains, the side with the unbroken freeband wins.   3. Any other result is a draw.
Campaign Results:   Campaign Gold: The winning freebands gain 2d8 gold, losing freebands (or all in a draw) 1d8. Each CM removed by or in the possession of a model gains that freeband 1d6 gold.   Campaign Experience: A model gains +2 AP for every CM it removed or possesses at game end.
