This is scene 2 from the Fiend of the Forest Adventure presented as a Freeblades Scenario.
Fiend of the Forest Scene 2 - Clear Run Falls
Plot | Jul 2, 2020
Encounter Area: 4’x4’ Table   Terrain: See Encounter Map. Forested with a stream running through the middle from deployment edge to deployment edge.   Objective: Place an Objective marker 9” in from the Sentinel home edge in the center of the Sentinel deployment zone (the Falls). The Objective itself has no effect on movement or LOS, but the falls are Watery and Rough.   Deployment: Standard Scenario Deployment Rules with the following exceptions. There is a Sentinel Player and an Attacker. The Sentinel player’s home edge is the one on the Falls/Objective near it. The Sentinel Player places all of their models that are initially deploying within 24” of their home edge and each one starts with a stealth or camouflage token. The Attacker then places all of their models in their deployment zone.   Deployment Zone: within 9” of player’s home edge. Note the Sentinel player is deploying models outside of this zone, but their deployment zone is defined here for other effects such as Ambush.   Special Rules:   Scouting the Falls: The Objective represents the entrance to the Bandit lair and the attacker is here to gain information about it to plot their eventual attack on the lair itself. A model does not block LOS to the Objective but will cause an Objective to be viewed as Concealed if LOS to the Objective is obscured by the model.
A non-Feral/Animal faction Attacker model may gain Recon Points (RP) by passing a Recon test as an End Phase action. A Recon test is a KNW test with a TN of 4 and can only be taken if the model has the Objective in LOS.
• The TN of the test is +1 for every full 3” the model is from the Objective.
• The TN is +1 if the Objective is Concealed to the model taking the test.
• The TN is 2 if the model is in contact with the Objective.
A passed test results in the model gaining one RP and an additional RP for every level of Crit. A model with the Scout talent is +1dl to this test.     Scouting the Attacker: The Sentinel is here to gain information about the attacker to better plan their defense of the lair.
For this purpose, a model does not block LOS to an attacker hero but will cause an attacker hero to be viewed as Concealed if LOS to the hero is obscured by the model.
A non-Feral/Animal faction Attacker model may gain Recon Points (RP) by passing an Attacker Recon test as an End Phase action. A Recon test is a KNW test with a TN of 4 and can only be taken if the model has the enemy hero in LOS.
• The TN of the test is +1 for every full 3” the model is from the hero.
• The TN is +1 if the hero is Concealed to the model taking the test.
• The TN is 2 if the model is in contact with the hero.
A passed test results in the model gaining one RP and an additional RP for every level of Crit. A model with the Scout talent is +1dl to this test.
Game End:   The game ends at the conclusion of an End Phase if any of the following are true:
• Only one side has an unbroken freeband or all freebands are broken.
• The time limit has been reached.
• One or more factions possess non-dropped models that have collectively gained at least their RP goal (see below). Winner:   1. The side that is the only one to gain at least the RP goal is the winner. If both sides gain their RP goal, the side that has gained the largest number of RP over their goal is the winner.
2. If no side has gained the RP goal and only one side with an unbroken freeband remains, the side with the unbroken freeband wins.
3. For all other results, the game is a draw.
The amount of RP needed to end and win the game increases with the (highest) value of the freebands being played:
Largest FV RP Goal Attacker RP Goal Sentinel
150 7 14
175 8 16
200 9 18
225 10 20
250 11 22
+25 +1 +2
Campaign Results:     Campaign Gold: The winning freeband gains 3d10 gold and the losing freeband gains 2d10 gold. If game ends in a draw, both freebands receive 2d10 gold. If a player wins by gaining at least the RP goal, as opposed to breaking the enemy freeband – he receives +1d10 gold.   Campaign Experience: A model that gains +1 AP for every two full RP it gained over the normal awards.
